Anybody make 'em? Something around 900 fps would be about right. Wanted to use them in a levergun for home defense. Please do not suggest 44 Specials. What say you? Thanks...

Remington has made a softer .44 Magnum load, but think it's been discontinued. I think they listed it at about 1,000 FPS from a handgun barrel. Lead 240 grain bullets.

If they don't still make it, you may be able to find some that hasn't sold.

One reason why I don't think the big .44 is an all-round gun is that ammo like you want is difficult or impossible to find.

The Remington mid-range load is long gone unfortunately. There are a couple of "Cowboy Loads" out there but they may be a little on the light side for you. Ultramax has a 240 grain lead load at 750 fps and Ten-X has a 200 grain lead load at 748 fps. Midway usually has them in stock.

Best Regards,
