I went to the range this evening to test out the new Timney sweet trigger BTW. I noticed when I emptied the magazine as fast as I could pull the trigger I had rounds that would cycle but when I pulled the trigger no bang. I pullede the charging handle to eject the round which cycled a new round then continue. My main concern is I see several running slidefire stocks and timney without issues with what I believe is the hammer not resetting. The ammo was cci ar tactical 36gr. Am I expecting too much as far as rapid fire.

If you wanted the fastest trigger you could put in the rifle you would not choose a Timney, but instead a Geissele Dynamic Super 3-Gun. If you pull the trigger faster than the hammer can reset (lockup time), what it feels like is you are blazing away and suddenly nothing happens. You pull the trigger and you get no click or nothing. You in effect pull the trigger before the hammer can reset so it blocks the hammer from releasing even if the bolt goes back far enough. If you do hear a click from the hammer releasing it usually means a dud round if nothing happens. However you would not use the S3G in a Slidefire because it is in reality a 2-stage trigger and they recommend a single stage.
I found this out in a match when using the PC's RRA 2 stage plus the JP springs. It only showed up when shooting a particularly fast stage with a line of bigger plates. I found I could pull the trigger faster than it could reset. I had to slow down and shoot the 5 plates in about 1.6-1.7 seconds. When I switched to the S3G I found I could run the stage as fast as 1.3 seconds (so far). This is the setup I used to dump 5 magazines in 25 seconds. Theoretically I should be able to go as fast as 22 seconds (25 rounds in 3.4s + a 1s mag change) or maybe even faster. I know I can outshoot a Slidefire for a short time but it would wear my trigger finger out something terrible.
And AR-Tactical does not come in any size except 40g round nose.
I doubt that is the issue as that is my ammo of choice most of the time currently.

Thanks I appreciate the advice. I'm not used to fancy triggers I run stock in my AR. I just put this in as it's more my "toy". I was not 100% sure on the gr. of the tactical. I'll try to slow down a bit it was just a test I don't usually dump a full mag mostly double taps so I think I'll be alright now. Just wasn't sure what to expect!

Okay I went out today and fired 4 magazines slowly practicing my trigger sqeeze. It seems as though speed wasn't the issue last time. I had one or two fail to fires per magazine with CCI tactical. I'm gonna try the federals next time out see if thats better. The rounds I'm pulling out thats not firing seem to have the same strike pattern as all the spent casings. This is the same result from two seperate boxes of 2 CCI tactical.

I called timney today and ordered the heavier spring sucks you have to pay for it. They should send these triggers with other spring. I also gonna try to clean bolt assymbly better mabey that'll work. The rifles new but has been cleane well!
