I, too bought an LEO/Military M&P40C for $398 along with 3 mags. It would have been $455 with Trijicon night sights. I wouldn't pay much more for a used one but then again if you don't qualify for that price break it might be worth it. A pistol in like new condition with just enough rounds through it to have tested, say 250-500, might be worth a little closer to the standard retail price. If you can find the test date or born on date that might be a clincher for you. Those manufactured a month or two into this year have an improved trigger. If it's been made last year you might have to add an Apex kit to be satisfied with it. You'll have to figure out what the going price for a NIB M&P is in your area & take it from there. I personally like to buy new & be the one to break it in. Having said that I bought a 4 year old FS M&P40 from a LEO who bought his back when issued a new one & although the trigger isn't quite as good as my July 2013 Compact it's not bad at all after all the rounds the Police Officer put through it. I am not a trigger snob, though, especially for an SD gun.
