Just locations in Illinois to monitor the new CCW carriers

Judging from how poorly my cell phone often works, we could use some more real cell phone towers.

If it is in SW MO, and the "scrappers" (aka "thieves") find out about it, it'll get "stolen". :D

Here's a link to a short article in Forbes: Rogue Cell Towers Could Be Intercepting Your Call - Forbes

My assumption is that it is the NSA, or someone in Homeland Security... If it is foreigners or criminal elements, someone is screwing up badly...

But wait! What does it matter if we already know that our phone communications are being scooped up? Perhaps this is just news about some of the hardware involved..

On Fox News this afternoon, one of Fox's experts said they were 2G towers. Most phones now run on 4G. If your phone were to show 2G on the display, he said your phone might be in the process of being hacked.

Fake "cell towers" and fake "wireless hotspots" are hardly new. The latter were VERY prevalent during the Sochi Olympics from what I saw on TV. Cell phones these days are just part of a packet switching network and, because of the backwards compatibility issues, vulnerable to the attacks described in the reports. There is a way to spoof Stingray IF the phone providers would fit it and make it work within their own network. I suspect if they started doing so the answer from Big Gov anywhere on Earth would be No, Nada, Nyet, Non, etc.
