FAKE USPS text message

There is a text message scam going around
It comes in as notice that they are holding a package for incorrect address information.
They have a link, which I did not fall for, and a web address
USPS-delivery.art
I put that in by hand and opened it and it looks exactly like the USPS and requests a $0.30 additional delivery by credit card. I stupidly bit that hook.
Fortunately, BOA Visa immediately called me.

Since members here have lots of packages going USPS I thought I would post this warning

Surprised you fell for it for $.30 but at least you were made aware of it being fraudulent. We can’t be too careful because the crooks are improvising and changing daily to dupe people into falling for scams that look too realistic. We’ve got to be on our toes when it comes to these bums.

The first clue was that the USPS was attempting to contact a customer. Seriously, how frustrating is it for a customer to attempt to speak to a USPS employee over the phone? If an item is undeliverable it gets returned.

I've gotten two of those recently. They certainly do look official. I made it to the point of them asking for 30 cents on the first one, then figured out it must be a scam.

I got this one a few days ago and have had several others in the past. I have also gotten "account warnings" about banks I never had an account with and credit unions I have never joined. Don't ever respond to any of these in any way, just delete them.

We have the ability to identify these people and their locations, and the means to deal with them permanently, but lack the national will to do so.

I find it amazing that the website worked. I'd be even more amazed if the language wasn't stilted.

I get that (stuff) from banks I've never dealt with, Amazon, UPS, FedEx, etc., etc. If I had the number I would have them call one of my ex females with my last name.

Cyber criminals are very clever, and very good at scamming people.

I have an account with the USPS. They do have my phone number. But usually, they communicate by email.

I received one last week. The area code was for Prince Edward Island. That was all I needed to see. PEI isn't delivering locally.

One of the clerks knows me well enough to call, the other would have to make 2 phone calls. Neither driver would.
