Do any of you fans of the 1st 2nd generation semi-autos have non factory grip panels stocks on your pistols?
Could I get you to post a photo or two?

I don't have either of those models, but I do have a Sig p220 and a H&K P7 with Nill grips that are awesome.

I slightly modified a set of Hogues from my 1006 to work on my 1076 KSP. The jury is still out on how long they'll stay there. They seem to be a bit slippery. Some checkering or other creative cross hatching or scrollwork may improve that issue, but not by me. I mean someone with talent. :D

I plan of some KSD grips for this 6906 I just bought from a fellow member.

Sorry no photos at this point.

My formative gunning years were in the 80's so Pachamyr is close to my heart and my revolvers wear MANY sets, but on the 39/52 pistols, I don't care for the Pachmayr because the only one they made has a palm swell that feels bloated and poorly contoured to me.

I have a set of Sile faux black pearl on one of my 52's, the look is okay, the feel is decent but I want to try slimming them down from the back side.

My 59 and 659 wear out of production Uncle Mike's and these grips are fantastic, barely thicker than stock but light years more durable and grippy and effective. A 59/459/559/659 without these grips is, in my heavily biased opinion, just MISSING something.

My 745's both wear slightly modified Pachmayr grips made for the 645. These offer a terrific feel and grab and again, my opinion, they look much better than the stock wood on a 745. The original wood isn't at all bad looking but I think it looks lousy on a two-tone pistol that isn't just two-tone, but has two distinct stainless finishes already. Wood stocks on a 745 give the pistol (arguably) FOUR different colliding schemes and I just can't make myself like the wood on a 745, so I love the Pachmayr here.

Grips and stocks on a handgun are nearly as subjective as a handgun itself, so I definitely wouldn't expect everyone to agree with me. But I will say that on my guns... grips/stocks mean a LOT!

I have a few after market grips for my 1st/2nd Gen pistols, but only the Uncle Mike's on my "unusual" nickel 59 remain on. They are very thin and along with the S&W plastic arched grip insert makes for a great handling 59. In my opinion.

The Hogue's I bought for my 639 until I found excellent factory ambi ones for a decent price. It took a while but I did. The Hogue's are nice though.

The J Scott "ivory" ones came on the beautiful nickel 39-2 I got, and look really great but again they were replaced with excellent factory non-ambi ones, that I got for a decent price.

The Pachmayr's I thought would be helpful on my 59's or 459 659's but they were not what I remembered from "times gone by." All of my handguns wore Pachmayr's back then.

For me at this time, I am enjoying the factory grips that originally came with all my pistols.

Jim

Sorry No pics at this time but I have rosewood grips on my M46 and KSD wood grips on my 627Pro series model revolver as well.

I agree with you 110% on the Uncle Mike's for the double stack 1st and 2nd gen pistols, no small wonder they're so good, they were designed by Craig Spegel.

And while they have been out of production for awhile, they fortunately still routinely turn up on eBay.

I have them on my 459 & 559, along with a relatively scarce S&W sold accessory, a curved back strap.

To me wooden grips belong on handguns so here are my two 645s. They both came with the UGLY Pachmeyer grips.

My old M39 (no-dash) came with these smooth stocks. Nice looking, but I replaced them with the proper original style checkered grips. This gun looks very "used"; it came from a County corrections officer with lots of holster wear, but it is by far the most accurate of all my S&W semi-autos.

I remember a 39-2 from long ago with fake black ivory grips. They looked great but were 'way too slick. I went back to the original wood stocks.
