Like many I was fortunate to had a great father that taught me many thing among which was a love for hunting and respect for guns. He owned and operated a service station and garage almost all his life. I start washing windshields and pumping gas at 10 then moved on to fixing flats and mechanic work. Got my driving license at age 16 and starting operating a wrecker and driving our 1500 gal water truck.
At 15, I was to receive a shotgun for Christmas. Dad had acquired a Winchester model 12 pump in mint condition an it was to be mine. I had to have an automatic and selected the new at the time model 1100 Remington. He sold the Winchester and I got my Remington (sitting in the gun safe now).
Dad was able to repair a damaged car in our shop and give it to me. At 16 I was the proud owner of 57 Chevy 2 door. Not appreciating it was I do now I sold it and bought a new International Scout which later traded in on an Olds 442.
When young we can make so decisions that seem great at the time but years later you fully regret. Now at 75 I wish I had a model 12 and 57 Chevy.
Happy Fathers Day Dad
