I'm going for my CCW class 25 SEP and I've never carried IWB in public before. It will take a while to get my permit after I take the class but I'm trying to get all of my gear now so I'm ready the day it arrives. I plan to wear the hoslter around the house to break it in before my permit arrives.

I was wondering what yalls favorite IWB holster is for a J frame is. I'm getting a no-lock 442 for carry. I'm a fat guy so I want a very comfortable holster that fits the gun well and helps with "printing".

Also, did you CCW folks have to buy new pants that allow for hoslter room?

I have a Lobo OWB that I'm VERY pleased with and was thinking about getting Mr. Ray to make me a CCW holster. I also like the looks of the Cross Breed Super Tuck, but maybe it looks to bulky for a fat guy? I just want something that the gun rides low in and as I said won't "print".
Thanks,
Aaron

I can't say that I've ever seen a comfortable IWB holster, however I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that carrys leather when I carry IWB, Rosen ARG here.

I've never seen one that DIDN'T print either, with a J Frame you are likely better served with a quality pocket holster.

Most of the guys I know that use IWB are the skinny guys, and the gun prints terribly on them. Comfort and concealability just don't go together for IWB for me.

Cheers,
Sam

I'm somewhat on the rotund side myself (5'7" and 240). I carry IWB more often than not.
Kimber Compact CDP 1911 in a Blade-Tech IWB or a Milt Sparks VM-II.
Springfield Armory Mil-Spec 1911 in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II.
And, my latest purchase, a S&W Pro-Series (no-lock) 442 in a Fist IWB.
Don't wear a tight shirt and you'll be fine. I DO, however recommend you buy a holster with a "sweat shield" as it acts as a great "flab tab" for me. ;)

J-frame.

Most comfortable IWB I ever found.

Thanks everyone. I see it's prolly not gonna be cheap to find the right holster for me. I'll prolly be buying a few to try out.

Iggy, nice rig. Definitely going to check that one out. Is that Horse or Cow?

While I rarely carry a J-frame in a holster as a primary, if I did, it would be in the same design I most often carry my 1911-types, a Brommeland Max-Con V. I have back problems, and the Brommeland aggravates them least of any IWB designs, and I've tried many. The K&D Dakota Defender is a good choice, too, and can be worn tucked. "Printing," or lack thereof, has more to do with learning to dress around the gun than with the specific holster design. Also you MUST have a quality, purpose-built gunbelt that fits the holster loops properly, or even a J-snubby will not conceal well.

Another rotund gent here and I carry my J-frames in one of two holsters when I go out with an IWB. One is a Don Hume PCCH, which I wear between belt and pants, not inside. The other is an Alessi HardShell Talon, which I wear between belt and pants, not inside. Most often, though, I carry it in a WRB pocket-holster. I carry a J-frame daily.

With due respect, a "gunbelt" is not necessary nor even advisable, IMHO. At this moment I am at a lecture and am wearing khakis and a polo shirt. I am wearing a Coach belt and a Galco 158 IWB holster with a j-hook. In the holster is a M60 NY-1. The belt is exactly 1 1/8" wide and was bought off the rack at a Coach outlet.

My khakis are the same size as worn when I am CCW whilst OWB. At least in my case, it is not necessary to wear different sized trousers/shorts just to carry a gun. In fact, a looser fit tends to render the holster a bit less secure. I suspect I am the only person here now who is CCW; that's given the nature of the subject matter. And no one has batted an eye thinking/knowing I am CCW.

My polo shirt is tucked around my M60; the only thing seen is a very small (approx. 1/8") plastic hook that is well nigh "invisible" against the black belt. If one wants something outsized that enhances concealment, buy the shirt a size larger. That facilitates tuckability and the looser fit minimizes printing, of course.

Many, many people want to wear IWB holsters with more leather and snaps/loops than some OWB rigs. Couple that with a belt that looks like one worn by Batman and it kinda defeats the purpose of concealed carry, IMHO, again.

Be safe.

I agree with Big D...I have two gun belts, an Alessi and a Wilderness...both in 1 1/2"...but they are too much belt for my little j-frame in my offset clip IWB, especially the thicker Alessi...heavy guns need the support of a good gun belt...but a thick leather gun belt is overkill for my 15 ounce 442....I also agree with D about the snaps and loops...with the J-frame, less is more....YMMV.

Here is my DelFatti ISP-DD...I would not suggest you wait 2 years for this one, but Lobogunleather also makes this style...I have one for my P2000 and it's a great holster...:)

My favorite IWB holster is Blade-Tech, it is thin and really shines with Autos. They also work well with round guns.
