This is like trying to pick your favorite kid. They're all on the list and rotate from top to bottom depending on what they did today.

Right now, my favorite kid is the Model 24.

I voted for the 686 but then thought I should have voted for the 586/686. Combine those 2 categories and you see some fan favorites. I have K and N frame .357's but if I could only have one it would be a 4" L frame

S&W 646 Performance Center .40 cal

For me the 646, six shot 40 cal revolver, with 3 & 7/8ths inch slab sided barrel with skeletonized ejector shroud, titanium cylinder, on an L frame. Only approximately 166 of the Performance Center variety were made, and I have a couple of them.:)

The 646PC with purple heart Culinas is my all time favorite!:D

Pretty easy choice for me. The Model 19 family is my favorite with the 4inch top of the list.

I can not believe the negative comments posted. I for one am enjoying this thread.

Like the one poster concerning the model 13, I also wanted one for years. I finally maxed out my home equity loan and found a pristine 13-3 for only (now hold on) $1,400.

Thanks again OP.

Model 66 for me, with my personal fave being a 66-7 (I know, the hole), but it is wickedly accurate.

If they'd made a half-lug L-frame, it might be that.

from the OP:
Well, ladies and gentlemen,

I believe we have a clear winner. The L frame blued 586, the SS 686, and the 686+ 7 shot.
I have one with a worked-over trigger by the Custom Shop, and I must say it is a keeper. It shoots tiny little groups.

The N frame Models 27 and 28 had quite a following. I'm a huge fan myself.

The Models 57 and 58 41 magnums have a bigger base than I realized. I keep reading that it's a dead caliber, but that it appears that just ain't so.
I love my beast, the Dan Wesson with 8" barrel.

The surprise for me was the Model 10 fan club. I believe it has sold more than any other model, but it always was kind of a plain Jane 38 special to me.

Did anyone else get any surprises? disappointments?

Oh, Boy! It like trying to pick your favorite child....

I really like my J frames, K, frames, and L frames, and I'd hate to not be able to choose which was my favorite. But to not have my N frames would be unthinkable. Of them, I'd be hard pressed not to pick my 57. So, there, you made me pick by process of elimination. But then, there are my Schofields.......

I'll be the odd man out here and say my favorite is the Model 38, almost impossible to find in today's market.

The Model 18 for me. Easy to shoot, extremely accurate, low recoil, cheap ammo and the perfect gun to hone you DA skills. Plus, its loads of fun! :D

My favorite is my 617. I now shoot it in Steel Challenge Matches in RFPO or RFPI depending on my feelings that month. It's a tack driver with iron or open sights.

The humble Model 10 wins it for me. It has soldiered on for over a century in a variety of configurations and variations. It's the quintessential thirty-eight revolver, and has timeless looks. It's a blast to shoot in a recreational setting, and has been a dependable service gun for police departments and militaries across the globe. No matter how many revolvers I shoot and/or own, I always find myself coming back to the Model 10 time and time again.

What he said !!!!!

Really, any N frame.

However, back in the revolver days, I picked up the first blued M581 I could find. I wanted a fixed sight 357 with a bit of weight for a duty weapon.

The 27 and 28 are listed together. No fair. I cant vote for that. 😉

How come? You like one, but not the other? I don't know anyone who has one that doesn't want the other, if they don't already have one.

The M57 and M58 are also together on the poll. I'm assuming these pairs were put together for a reason, because they are closely related models and both being so similar.

I find it rather unsurprising the pairs are in the top four in popularity, according to the poll.

Old thread but why not? My 67-1 and 686-0 are both my favorites and my only. The 67 makes me a much better shot than I can hope to be but the 686 is just a blast with full house loads. IMHO
