The 43 Best No Country for Old Men Quotes

three of my favorites......

You can tell it any way you want but that's the way it is. I should of done it and I didn’t. And some part of me has never quit wishin I could go back. And I cant. I didn’t know you could steal your own life. And I didn’t know that it would bring you no more benefit than about anything else you might steal. I think I done the best with it I knew how but it still wasn’t mine. It never has been.

I had no say in the matter. Every moment in your life is a turning and every one a choosing. Somewhere you made a choice. All followed to this. The accounting is scrupulous. The shape is drawn. No line can be erased. I had no belief in your ability to move a coin to your bidding. How could you? A person's path through the world seldom changes and even more seldom will it change abruptly. And the shape of your path was visible from the beginning.

You think when you wake up in the mornin yesterday dont count. But yesterday is all that does count. What else is there? Your life is made out of the days it's made out of. Nothin else. You might think you could run away and change your name and I dont know what all. Start over. And then one mornin you wake up and look at the ceilin and guess who's layin there?.

I have several...

"The money looks better in my pocket than theirs."...my Mom

"When life slaps you flat on your back...how do you respond...lying there looking up or standing up and looking forward?"

"When in doubt...empty the magazine."

"There are three types of people...those who make things happen...those who watch things happen...those who wonder what happened. Which are you?"

"Start every day with an accomplishment...make your bed. If you can't do the simple things how can you accomplish the more complex? Make your rack."

Three to live by!

From No Country For Old Men:

It takes very little to govern good people. Very little. And bad people cant be governed at all. Or if they could I never heard of it.
From my own personal credo:

There are very few problems in life that cannot be solved with a suitable application of plastic explosives.

Seemingly nightly saying to my 2 sons when they were younger..."The napkin is your friend".

My comment now anytime the situation warrants it..."Don't start no ****, won't be no ****"!

Heard this from a talk show caller years ago: There are two constants in life, time and truth, and one always leads to the other.

All of this can be summed up by my own credo, not necessarily to be taken literally:
Never hide your stash while stoned.

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

"In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

“The further away a society is removed from the truth, the more hated are those who still speak it.” - Orwell.

"The rules are simple: they lie to us, we know they’re lying, they know we know they’re lying, but they keep lying to us, and we keep pretending to believe them." - Elena Gorokhova, A Mountain of Crumbs

"If you have to be persuaded, reminded, bullied, pressured, incentivized, lied to, guilt tripped, coerced, socially shamed, censored, threatened, paid, punished and criminalized, if all this is necessary to gain your compliance, you can be absolutely certain that what is being promoted is not in your best interest."
