As we approach the end of the year, I realized my favorite S&W is the one I’m currently shooting 🤣

I am a shooter more than a collector. So while I appreciate fine guns, I buy them to shoot and use- mostly in my action shooting games (IDPA, USPSA, ICORE).

That said, I have 3 N frames, 627, 625 & 21-4. If I was asked last year which of these 3 would be my favorite- it would probably be my 625 as I used it frequently in IDPA. Now I’m leaning towards my 21-4 after using frequently in my ICORE games.

The same can be said for my L& K frames. As I only have 1 J frame, I can safely say the M63 is my favorite J frame🤣

Most long time members probably know that 4” 44’s are my favorites.
Among the ones I have is an older 629-1, it’s my favorite for a few reasons.
I’ve had it the longest, I’ve shot it the most and it shoots my preferred loads well. It’s been back to Springfield twice for rebuilding and the last time, I had them refinish it. Looks and shoots just like new.

I’d enjoy seeing some good photos of the 627 :D
I agree on the 63’s, my 8 holer gets shot every time I shoot

As requested, my 627. I had Pinnicle Precision fit another cylinder chambered in 9x23 that enables me to shoot 9mm, 38super, 380 and a few others. I primarily shoot 9mm through it in my ICORE games; occasionally 38 spl with the original cylinder

My favorite is a plain Jane 4” HB Mod 64.
The gun was in good shape mechanically and finish wise except it had some nasty scrapes on the top strap.
I sanded the gouges out and polished the top strap and then sanded across the top strap at a couple different angles with about 120 grit IIRC to get a matte type finish.
The nice thing about stainless is a Bubba like me can sand the scratches out and no re-blueing is required.
I hung a set of Thai mystery wood stocks on it being it had Pachs on it when I got it.

Tanners Owner , are you saying your 627 , or at least one of your cylinders , reamed to .3566TSW is able to shoot 38 Super ? If so , it's opened up another world to me . I have both .3566TSW models and they are awesome . But if I can get another cylinder for one of my 357's and have it reamed to .3566TSw and be able to shoot 38 Super , it'd be Xmas time . I have a Colt Super Elite GCNM , S&W 1911-2 Doug Koenig and a Tanfoglio Witness III , all in 38 Super . Oh , and the guys in the other section talked me into a Tisa in 9mm/38 Super .

I have a small Smith collection of four revolvers and two semi-autos. Among those, only the 19-3, 28-2, and 39-2 would be considered collectible. Yet the one I’ve shot the most (by far) and love to fondle the most is this humble Model 27-9 Classic I bought new back in 2012 and have shown here on the forum in the past.

No accounting for affairs of the heart, I guess.

Correction, it’s chambered in 9x23- that enables 9mm and others to include 356tsw. Apologies for the error & I corrected my initial post on the subject

I try to do a lot of walking for exercise, and I am one of those people that my mind is always churning. So often I search for things to think about and countless times I go through the process of thinking if I had to reduce my gun inventory which guns would be first to go and which would be the last to go. That list is constantly changing, depending on which one I used last. At the ripe old age of almost 80, there is nothing that I "need" that I don't have, and I have a hard time deciding which one to let go first when I feel I need to.

Looking back on my 60 years of buying, trading, and selling guns, I have been very fortunate, and owe my wife a huge "thank you" for putting up with my expensive hobby.

Of the Smith and Wessons I own these two are the favorites of the favorites. Model 63 2” I bought new in 1976 as off duty carry when I became a LEO. And a nickel Model 10 4” ((1979) just like my department issue back in the day. It took me a few years to find the Model 10. These two bring back lots f memories.

Up for another look, kinda thought this thread would be three pages deep by now :D

Big Bores Small Bores

When reading this Thread I had to reflect on
my Revolvers and Pistols, with that said I
counted them. Won’t say how many, but
each one was purchased because I
identified with it, researched it, pursued it,
and bought at a reasonable price.

Honorable mention is the S&W Mountain
Guns and S&W 617s 22lr.

I don't shoot revolvers a lot anymore, but the 686s have been a longtime favorite of mine. A few years ago I had a 7-shot cylinder rechambered for 9mm. So now, just because I could, it's a 6 and 7-shot .357/9mm.
