Surprise!! FBI director came out solidly in support of concealed carry and the efficacy of an armed citizenry. I don't think he intended to do that, but that's what it sounds like to me. Commenting on his own advice to tape over the webcam on laptop computers, he said, “It’s not crazy that the FBI director cares about personal security as well,” the FBI director added. “So I think people ought to take responsibility for their own safety and security.”

Now, doesn't that last sentence sound like a ringing endorsement of a well-armed populace?

I'm sure that if you asked him, he'd tell you that you should pretend that somebody else is going to protect you from physical danger, even though both of you know otherwise.

That is how most level-headed law enforcement officers I know think . . .

that is this week....who knows what he will say next week....I was raised in Idaho and they just recently passed a law that you don't need a concealed carry permit....they are going on 4 months without a deadly shooting....go figure

I no longer trust James Comey. And I do believe there is a lot of wiggle room in the quote above.

I usually never trust a person in high office. Too many alternate agendas that usually only serve their own prosper. But his latest decisions DEFINITELY make you not trust the guy. And we all know what I am talking about.

They should make constitutional carry legal at the federal level. If indeed they feel the people should effectively be able to protect themselves.

I lost any respect I had for the FBI when Comey let Hillary slide after admitting she had committed crimes. His and my job is (was) to catch criminals and jail them so they could have a trial.

The Supreme Court made the situation pretty clear with their finding that the police do not have a Constitutional duty to protect someone.

At least clear to my way of thinking.

Being the FBI director is not an easy job. At that level, everything is a compromise, after all, John Wayne is long dead.
