My next door neighbor was out on medical leave from Rescue 4 when the towers fell. Despite that, he responded in and took part in the search and rescue ops that followed... I was fortunate enough to spend an entire day with them on the Thursday after, digging and crawling in the rubble. Despite the disaster, these guys showed what they are made of.

I have often wondered what was going to happen to the trucks that DID survive that day. Glad to see at least one is made into a "living memorial".
