I was at my local WalMart a couple of days ago and noticed that they had some Federal .45 acp ammo in stock(230gr. fmj). It was packaged in a nice maroon cardboard box that had the word Champion on it. I had never seen this ammo before so I purchased 2 boxes at $15.92 each which seemed reasonable at the time. I went to the Federal website but could not find this ammo listed. Is this ammo line new? Did it replace American Eagle or is this a special run for Walmart? Just Curious. Any info. is greatly appreciated.

From what I know, it is just for wally world. It is cheap enough, and I have not had any problems with it. Comparable to WWB or Rem UMC. Buy it if you can find it...

I can't remember exactly when - maybe last summer - Walmart started to replace the Blazer w/Federal.
They are both owned by ATK (or something like that).

I just realized last week that the box come in 2 different sizes like the Blazer used to be. Very strange. didn't look at the lot number to see if they come from 2 different places.
One box is just longer than the other but both hold 50 rounds.
Same thing w/the 9mm boxes.

Fed .45 @ WalMart

The last boxes I tried had some primer failures.
Failure to fire with first firing pin strike.
4 to 5 per box had primers pop out.
9mm. and .40S&W no problems.
Good Luck

That ammo has been around here for a while now, but in the different stores only sporatically. Have not seen any for about 3 weeks now. I think you will see on the box a code which starts with WM, and I was told it is a WalMart only contract. That is a great price, as the WM's here have started raising the price to $16.97. Have had no issues with it yet, and have several boxes still to shoot.

I buy and shoot it whenever I can find it and have had no problems with it other than it used to be cheaper...

I don't have any experience with the .45acp, but I've shot a lot of the Champion 9mm without a single problem. It's good ammo at a very reasonable price.
