I've been scoring some ammo at the 2 Academy Sports stores that have opened near me Only 1 box per caliber which
I find to be fair so everyone can get some. I found the 5.56 federal ,420 round can in walmart across the road from Academy Sports. They actually had at least 15 cans. I was really surprised. Limit one per. Good enought for me.

$175 +tax. They were $149 before the madness and when you can find them. Really not a bad price, Gander was selling them for $249 or somewhere in that range maybe more. I could have purchased more, but im not greedy. I wanted and hoped that someone who needs ammo could get some today. I hope a flipper or a hoarder didn't get some.

Not a bad price at all considering how much ammunition is selling for these days. I was at my LGS today and paid $11.99 per box of PMC X-TAC and the same price for the Independence 5.56.

Academy sports have opened 2 stores on the same day here. They are limiting 1 box per caliber on popular calibers. Seems fair. I have gotten some Federal 5.56, 20 round boxes $8.99, Wincgester 9mm $14.99 and Blazer .22lr 50 round box $2.30. Today besides the can of 5.56 from walmart, I got Winchester bulk .22lr 525 $19, some 5.56 independence, and monarch 9mm. Been doing good these past few days. I think things are slowly getting better.

WOW!!!!!! Gunbroker..people buying/selling the same can for close to $400. I would never gouge my fellow gun owners! I done need the money that bad. That is insane stuff going on there. Not just the sellers, Its the bidders doing that to themselves. And Federal 100 pack that normally sells for $36. 2 boxes selling for $150. WOW!!!!!!!!. are people that desperate to buy at that prices??? I sure wont.

I can't remember what they are called (ringers, jackers ?). It's an old scam, but I've seen sellers have a couple of "friends" kicking up the bids as the sale goes on to get more money from what they are selling. If it is a wash out and one of the "friends" get the bid, they just do it all over again on/at another sale. I've often wondered how much of that has been going on now ? Between the flippers, hoarders and this kind of stuff going on... Then there's that one person(s) that has more money to just throw at something and will take the bid at any cost. ...it's a nut house. I'm happy to see the big box stores starting to put limit amounts on ammo and still keeping prices "reasonable". It's the only way to get things settled back down.

Never seen that before at my walmart even before the madness, but it wouldn't matter since it's m855 (steel core green tip) none of my ranges will let me shoot it due to fire hazards.

Same with my indoor range. I had 5 mags loaded with it and had to unload each of them.

Some say it's no big deal. But I won't shoot it. After being in the military, I've seen what it will do to a barrel over time. Not too worried about steel cases. I'll shoot those at ranges that won't let you pick up your brass.

Just got back from my local Walmart and the ammo cases were still bare, they didn't have enough on hand to fill 1/4 of the shevles behind the locked glass doors. :(

I was finally able to score some Federal .223 Value Packs (3 limit) @ my local Wally World early Sat. morning after weeks of waiting for an email alert that it was back in stock. Total cost was $111.20 w/tx. so that figures out to be about $0.37 a rd., can't complain about that.:D

They arent tracers, What fire hazzard? My range sells it. And you can shoot what they sell.

It may depend on their backstop construction. Steel-on-steel can strike sparks, and shredded target paper makes great tinder... especially if it can collect near the base of the backstop.

There are very few indoor ranges that allow rifle calibers here and outdoor ranges here are located in Angeles Forest and have some to a lot of dry brush depending on season and LOTS of rocks usually. Steel stuff tends to spark off the rock... just ask burro canyon, seems like there's is a fire there every month at least. The other range has steel targets and they don't want to chance pitting the steel. Some ranges do allow steel during certain times of the year though. Tracers are always a no no 365 days a year in SoCal.

And if you're an idiot like the guy in that Dallas range (not implying anyone here is) you shoot tracers indoors and ignite the backstop destroying the range....UGG

Wow....I'm lucky. The range I belong to allows anything up to 50 cal. No tracer/incendiary, but they let you throw anything else down range. The backdrop actually has a sort of waterfall running over it, to nix sparks and wash out lead. Very high tech.

thanks for posting this I got one today myself!!!!

Good deal. Ammo around my area and AR rifles including M&P15's are easily found and at normal prices. I glad things are slowly getting back to normal.
