Getting rid of one more thing to go wrong.
My wife bought a 2025 Outback and she does the same thing. She gets irritated easily. This is on her long list.I always thought it was irritating and useless. The minute amount of fuel saved is offset by the wear and tear on the starter and other parts. I can bypass it on my truck, just have to remember to do it every time I start.

But you drive a Prius...I drove big rigs, going through So. Cal on the freeway Many times a Prius would exit the carpool lane at the last instant to join a backed up exit lane stopping in front of my truck trying to commit suicide...and to your point. I haven't driven 100,000 in the last 8 years. Far less . I can live with the cost of driving my diesel 4x4.4.4 cents a mile is $4400 per 100k miles.
At 15 MPG you are spending 65/15 times the money on fuel. That's $19000 versus my $4400.
$14600 in my pocket every 100k and this car can go 341,000 miles on the original brake pads.
Your V8 engine burns .5 gal per hour idling. My car can go at least 32.5 miles on that same fuel while yours sits there and goes nowhere. If I drove slowly I can average over 90 miles per gallon.
There is a plug in bypass, i have one in my 20 f 150. Have not had a problem since I plugged it in 2 yrs or moreI always thought it was irritating and useless.
