Anybody shoot these yet? Look good, $13 for 50 at walmart. 400 lbs energy at muzzle, which should keep the bulge away. Just wondering mainly about a case rupture( I get serious bulge with any ammo over 450lbs energy) and if it's ok for the ejector and/or extractor

Don't have a 40 but I have used 100 rounds of Fed. alum. 9mm even mixed some up with brass in a mag.
Seems I remember a while back that people said they did not shoot well in hot guns ? I don't know.
I am going to keep buying them when I see them.
,
I warn you I said the same thing about Tulamo & shot a lot of it until I got a bad round stuck in the chamber.
Still have a few boxes I have no use for cause I will not try them again.

When I see these at WM I'll be trying a box in my SD40VE. I bought a box for a guy at work at Christmas for his, but he hasn't shot them yet.

I've shot the 9mm and 45 auto and they shoot/function fine in all my guns and they are accurate out to 15 yards. If you don't reload, or if you just don't feel like chasing brass; it's a less expensive option.

Just got 6 more boxes from WM the wife & i both shoot 9mm we are going to shoot this exclusively as long as we can find it.
I don't anticipate any problem but if there is I will be sure to chime in here.

As I said before I have 8 boxes of Tulamo in 9mm & 3 in 380 that I have no plans on using & I was wondering how long before the steel case would maybe start to rust ?

I picked up 8 or 10 boxes of the Federal aluminum case 9mm from WM for $10 a box.
I figured it would keep me from digging through the snow looking for brass.

I ran 100 rounds through my 5906 with no issues.

To live outside the law, You gotta give a damn.

I can't find that specifically (9mm aluminum case) on the Walmart website and right now am limiting driving because of snow, now black ice, which will continue for another 4-5 days.

How does the cost compare to Winchester White box 100 round bulk, 115 grain? If I can avoid worrying about holding onto brass it makes just one less thing to think about. (I don't reload but could sell or give brass away to folks who do.)

WWB at my WM is $26 & change plus tax. The Fed Alum is $9,97/50. So lets say $26.94 - 19.94 = $7.00 savings on 100 rounds.

I do reload but have to pay at least $12.99/50 for brass case ammo. But sometimes, I just save the $3.00 so I don't have to worry about finding the brass!

The first time I shot a box of Federal Aluminum through my SD40VE I didn't have a single hiccup. I was quite pleased. The second time I shot a box was about a month later and much colder (read: snow on the ground and temp in the teens) both the ammo and gun had been sitting in my car for a couple hours. I had 3-4 failures to go into battery that day but attribute it to the temp. I would still by more of that ammo in a heart beat.

Interesting. The single failure my SD9VE has had was when shooting this ammo when both the pistol and the ammo were very cold.

I have a sw40ve manufactured in 2012 baby eAts up Anything you feed it steel, aluminum , hollow points never had Malfuction no exact log on rounds I would say 10,000 plus. but I did have to replace the extracter s&w sent it to me free of charge.

Blazer AL cased ammo

I've used this ammo in several different 9mm semi-autos that I own. I also use Blazer FMJ in brass cases. They both work well.
Obviously, your POI will be different than other types of ammo, out of the same gun. But no problems with function.
So, if I'm doing drills where POI isn't particularly important, this stuff is just fine, and certainly inexpensive. However, where accuracy is involved, I am typically using the SD ammo that I'd normally have in the weapon. And, no surprise: accuracy and group patterns are more satisfying.

If your not reloading, then aluminum is a cheap practice ammo option. It won't damage your firearm as it is a softer metal. Most indoor ranges went let you use steel or aluminum casings.

The closest range won't let you shoot anything a magnet will attract but I have no idea about Aluminum. I'll give them a call and see what they say so we can see what the trends are. Actually there are 4 ranges within driving distance, I'll call them all and report (next week). Working on car this weekend.

I do appreciate cheap. . . .

Well, I found a box of the 40 S&W Federal Aluminum ammo on my way to the range. This uses a 180 gr. FMJ FP bullet. Muzzle Velocity is listed at 1,000 fps, with Energy (ft-lbs) @ 400.
Shot first 10 rounds @ 7 yards to find POA/POI. Next 40 rounds into a B-24 @ 7yards. I was not disappointed! The SD40VE put all 40 rounds into a nicely centered, gaping hole into the B-24 target :-)

As with the 9mm and 45 acp loads, the 40 S&W load was reliable and accurate in my gun. No issues at all. Strangely, the price of the 40 S&W was the same as the 45 acp @ $14.97. Would've thought it would've been around $11.97-$12.97, about mid way between the 9 & 45 loads. Will check a few other WM's and see what I find.

I give the Federal Aluminum ammo 2 thumbs up (or forward, if you like) LOL. Reliable, accurate and less expensive than most other offerings.

I paid the same $14.97 at my local Wally World here in Ohio. I don't reload, so practicing with aluminum cases ammo is fine with me. No issues yet for me either.

$14.97 for the Aluminum .40, $19.97 for the Federal brass at my Wally World as of yesterday. Picked up a box of each yesterday.

I thinking of picking up a .40S&W, maybe in the form of a SD40VE, so I'm headed to the rental range tomorrow to rent their G23, SW40 and M&P 40 to see what I like best. The SW40 should be close enough to the SD40VE to form an opinion.

I have ran many aluminum case rounds through my .40 SIGMA. They shoot just fine for me.
