Federal Bulk vs CCI Blazer

Rattles, the CCI value packs are identical to the boxes of 50. I shoot them almost excusively in my 15-22 and 22A without problems. If you've shot the boxes of 50 without issue, don't hesitate to get the 5K from gunbroker if your planning on buying that much.

Thanks for the info. I wil order some after I get the $$ together from some Ebay wheelin' n' dealin'.

CCI makes the best rimfire ammo; Blazers are good, pretty clean ammo. Locally I get them at Dunhams sporting goods for $1.99 per 50

Thats what I used for my "test" ammo.

Have you had a chance to shoot any of the CCI Blazer 5k bulk yet? I see there are quite a few of the 5k cases of it on gunbroker and I am getting pretty tempted to order some. I shot a couple boxes of 50 of the Blazers with excellent results.

I've run 2,000 through with ZERO issues (except dirty fingers from loading the ammo). Highly recommend!

I've found the CCI Blazers to be exceptionally good ammunition, just like the Mini-Mags. Clean and more importantly, consistent. Thousands of rounds fired and I honestly can't remember any failure-to-anything's with them. I've shot many times more of the Federal bulk ammo, but I've found them to be noticeably less consistent... a fair number of "less enthusiastic" discharges. I'm happy to spend a bit more for the CCI and delighted when there's a sale someplace :)

My buddy stopped by so we went out and ran about 300 rounds through the gun. It was some Winchester bulk, Federal 40 grain (got it cheap at Dunhams also) and the Blazers. The blazers had the least stovepipes but they all did it for some reason. The gun was cleaned thoroughly prior to.

I think I will give S&W a call tomorrow. It was better for a bit but it got bad again and I am getting tired of it..

I just purchased 6 bricks of Blazer for $12.88 each at my local store.

Went out shooting with Blazers @ 25 yards.
Bushnell Dawn & Dusk 3-9x50 scope + Bipod
Shot 2 mags of 20 rounds each.
Managed 2 groupings of approx 1"

Love my 1522 and Blazers are awesome ammo

I just hit a deal on some Winchester 555 bulk. The local Meijer dept. store had them for $19.99. The clerk told me there was a $5.00 off coupon in the front of the store I could use on it too. Needless to say, I made another trip in after I dropped off my first shopping items and got another. 2 for under $30.00. I couldn't go wrong.

Guess I should have read this ammo thread before.

Picked up my 15-22 today and grabbed a 525 pack of Rem Golden Bullets cause the Fed 550 pack I have shoot poorly out of my Buckmark and Rem 597.

I get home and read the owners manual and it says they do not recommend;Rem Golden Bullet,Rem Target22,Rem Thunder Bolt and Win Wildcat.

Maybe they will shoot in my 597?

Back to the store for some CCI's so I can shoot this thing .

I would at least try the Rems before you give up on them. Many folks have used them successfully. In the future, you can try a different brand, but at least try what you got.

I tried a few of those rounds since I had run out of Blazer at the range, they were my cousin's. Had one fail to fire out of 20 rounds but I had a few of those because the front of the bolt was caked.

I've shot thousands of rounds of Blazers and Mini-Mags. I've shot a box of 500 Rem Golden Bullets. Here are my thoughts:
Rem Golden Bullets worked well in my AA 22LR Glock 19 conversion kit. They are a MESS to handle though. Your hands get dirty from the residue that the bullets are covered in. I did not shoot them in the 15-22.

CCI Blazers: Shot thousands of rounds in the 15-22 and 22A. Great round, no misfires, no FTE. BUT, it severely fouls the barrel. If you are shooting a couple of hundred you wont notice it. But we go through a couple of hundred rounds in 10 minutes and the fouling is intense. You can tell when it is fouled as you have no clue where the bullet is hitting; and this is with an extremely accurate Eotech scope.

Mini-Mag: Definitely the best I have shot thus far. The copper coated bullet keeps the barrel clean. Consistent shots, no misfires, no FTE's.

In terms of price, I constantly scour the internet for the best deals. Right now, PalmettoStateArmory.com has the best price on CCI Blazers at $14.99 per 525 box. Cheapest Mini Mags are found at wholesalehunter.com at $5.20 per 100.

Oh..Oh...And I just ordered 5250 rounds of the federal..:( Oh well, I guess I'll give them a try and see if it gives me problems...

Sportsman's Warehouse is still open in your area??!! They closed in Memphis over a year ago. :(

Yeah, I think they went through reorganization. A year or so ago
the gun racks were bare. I noticed today they have their own brand .22lr. $14.99/500. I think I'll try some.

Thanks all. I have a case of 5,000 Blazers on the way from Glens. $149.90 plus $21.95 shipping = 171.85/5000 = $.034 per shot which is about half the price of the minimags. I shoot a lot (@25,000) so far this year so the price per shot is important to me.

It took me 2 months but I finished off the case of Blazers this weekend. 5,000 flawless rounds, with zero issues except dirty fingers from loading the mags. Unlike my bad experience with Fed bulk, every round was consistent. Tried to re-order another case from Glen's but they were out. Sportmans warehouse has them for a $1 more per box but with no shipping so placed my order today.

Geez..nice! I'm waiting for this local place to re-stock them.

CCI Minimags work the best through my DUU-XXXX. I've got about 1350 rounds through it now, and don't have any problems rapid-firing an entire magazine of CCIs.

This stuff, however:
feder_22lr.jpg

turns my rifle into a Jam-O-Matic(tm), with stovepipes and other FTE every 2-3 rounds, even while firing slowly.

in over 30 years of shooting the fed bulk ammo i have found if your gun dont like it just find ammo it will like. myself if i buy a gun that wont shoot the fed ammo i either fix the gun or sell it,IMO fed bulk is the best for the money

the rems won't even cycle the action on my model 60 marlin and i have a lot of FTE in my mark 11 ruger with them,

Have you looked at CCI minimags? In bulk they are reasonably priced

This is what I have used sice I got my rifle a few months back. After my first mag which I did not follow the instructions and load properly, I have had no issues whatsoever.

No Signature... (in NC at least)

I live in Missouri and go past MidwayUSA a couple times a week. I've never used their "pickup" option before but I saved about $15 on shipping the case of MiniMags I just ordered.

It appears I can avoid the hassle of having someone sign for ammo shipped to one's house--is a signature required or will it be dropped if you go that way?

I guess it's all a wash--I avoided the shipping but have to pay the tax. It ended up being $2 cheaper than Gander Mountain's deal but no shipping problems.

These people The Armory had a place to add "No signature desired, please leave"... I'll let you know 10/22/2012 if that worked or not. Also, good prices and LOW bulk shipping to NC. :)

Also FWIW, My 15-22 Loves 22LR 40gr Aguila Super Extra High Velocity - never a FTF,FTE, and only ONE FTF in 3000 rounds. American Eagle - nothing but problems.

I have been shooting the Federal Blue Box stuff which was $20 for 500. Have been having a bunch of stovepipes or failing to go into battery. Ran about 300 Rem Goldens through the gun prior to that with only 2-3 FTF and that ammo had been sitting around for a couple of years in my cabinet. Will finish up the last 700 or so rounds of Federal and then be trying something new. As many have said these guns seem to have their own personalities and some like certain ammo and hate others.
