I hav a colt .38 ds and I use the 147 hydra shok in it that is my preferred load, I love this load with my colt infact i hav a springfield 40 xd and when it comes to accurate shooting at a distance I'll shoot my colt with this load everytime, But you have to be the judge on using this load. My thoughts are federal would not have made this load for .38's if it was not safe to shoot in 38's. Just my two cents

I shoot a fair amount of the Federal 147Gr. +P+ in my all of my .357's and a very small amount of this in my 38 special M-60. I do though load my M-60 with this when I carry it.

I bought a truckload of this stuff when Cheaper Than Dirt was selling it for less than $20 a box of 50. It's super accurate and I've shot hundreds of rounds through my Model 64's. I'm not convinced it's a very hot load.
