Well,
I have known for quite some time that Federal Express & FedEx Ground are merging into 1 singular company. Not that they were never 1 company but air and ground are separate by definition. So instead of a Fedex ground guy picking up ground only he will also pick up air shipments as well. I'll give you one example of problems to come. Today I was tasked to look into a FedEx Envelope that contained a check for purchase. It was sent Next day air to deliver by 10:30 am on Tuesday this week, the vendor called today and said no check that was promised on Tuesday morning. Big Problem as the item in question was needed by Saturday. After the 10 hrs on the phone I spent tracking this letter It finally delivered at 2 pm today, basically 3 full days late. After all the back and forth it turned out that a Fedex Ground driver was trying to deliver said letter after the company already closed. They close at 4 pm sharp. I SAID FEDEX GROUND tried to deliver an air shipment set at 10:30 am on ground delivery times which is till 6 pm in the evening.
Now being in the shipping business for as long as I have I can assure everyone that Air and Ground transport has increased by thousands of % since 1994 hence the issues we already have today. Think Amazon, Walmart and the Chinese connection with literally Millions of packages in the Pipeline around the world on a daily basis. This decision by FedEx to combine all in one is an experiment of monumental failure. Remember New Coke? Fedex has already started this and now the butterfly effects are showing. This is going to take years to get the FedEx ship righted. Do you remember Covid Shut down, it took over a year just to empty all of the Sea Container Ships waiting off our shores and that was our longshoreman working 24/7 each week.
Sad part is UPS cost more and takes longer. USPS absolutely is horrible. If FedEx has been bad for you in the past it's going to get even worse.
So if I were you for the time being I would avoid FedEx like a scorching case of Herpes!
