Folks, not sure which folder this should belong in but here it is. I have recently sold 12 firearms on GB for a family friend liquidating a collection and when I went to ship I was denied at both UPS and FedEx. BOTH companies have recently changed their shipping policies, individuals may NO LONGER ship firearms to FFL dealers, only FFL to FFL. One FFL who had agreed to help me was charging $60 for long guns and $50 for handguns.

These new policy changes smell of backdoor "present administration" influenced anti 2A tactics.

Being in the industry, we ship a lot of firearms and deal with FedEx and UPS daily. This took effect late January, early February. They purport the impetus for the change is due to increased claims for lost firearms. Not sure if this 100% fact, but that’s what we were told. You’re not the only one that’s not happy about this. While we issue shipping labels to customers who need to return firearms for repair, we don’t cover the transfer fees charged by FFLs. MANY unhappy campers out there. However, to my knowledge, individuals can still ship long guns through the USPS.

Fedex did this quite awhile ago but for UPS it went in to effect last September.
My 'guess' is that it was due to political pressure more than anything else.
Shipped quite a few by UPS & never had any issues of 'lost' guns - FWIW.

The truth was the first casualty of the leftist push to control the US. The big corps are either telling the government what to do or falling in line like good little sheep.

Interesting
They didn’t implement it for guns being shipped to and from us until this past January/February. I’ve also heard from others at NRA that this practice is inconsistent throughout the USA.

In February I had to return a Kimber revolver for service. Kimber emailed me a UPS label and the gun was returned just less than a week later via FedEx. But it was coming and going to me, the original owner.

I imagine the shipping companies don't want to get caught up in any illegal transfers, thus the FFL regulation. If your state at this time allows you to transfer to another party without background checks that would not apply outside your border.

And selling or giving a firearm to your brother in law without a background check is coming to a screeching halt. Your vote counts.

you give it to your sister. SHE gives it to her husband. Done. Thats the sort of thing we do in Washington State. Follows the law on transfers. Immediate family. You and your sister. Transfer Complete. She and her husband. Transfer Complete.

While it doesn't involve shipping a quick walk through yesterday at Wally World showed no firearms and a very limited supply of ammo. Guess they're no longer interested in us.

UPS and FedEx may actually be loosing them. I had a fellow shipping one to me through UPS about two years ago that was stolen in Memphis at their main shipping hub. While filing the paperwork out, I also saw in the news a large shipment of 50 from a manufacturer were lost at the same shipping hub. Never heard if they were any arrests made in my case or the others, but inner city shipping hubs probably have a difficult time keeping decent employees. Just like you should never mail cash, mail handlers can tell if there is cash in envelopes...

Memphis hub would be FedEx. Louisville is UPS's hub
