Ok, I'm not a paranoid person, more of a revolver & shotgun person with semi-auto questions. I have to M&P 9's a FS and a C. The FS has had about 500 rounds through it and the feed ramp edges (left and right) are even and crisp. The 9c has had 50 rounds through it (Winchester white box) and the right edge of the ramp is wearing considerably to have only shot 50 rounds. I understand the wearing of the black finish is completely normal, but the actual metal is wearing down and the sharp edge is now rounded. These are the best pictures I could get, but just wanted to ask is this normal? If not normal, is it ok? I'm kosher with the whole "if it ain't broke don't fix it" line and hope that's the case here. Just curious.

Edit to add: I did clean the gun thoroughly before shooting and did not experience any issues, no ftf or fte.

It ain't broke, don't fix it.

Any heat treated steel is harder than the hardest brass or lead ever found in a bullet or cartridge case. Maybe you just didn't notice the softer edges until some of the finish had worn off.

I've heard of some guys who will polish their feed ramp before even putting a round through it. Your brass shell casings are evidently do that job for you. As it's been said already - your brass is much softer than the ramp & it's just taking the soft parts away.

Keep an eye on it & if it get progressively worse then give S&W a call. As long as there are no problems with feeding I wouldn't worry about it.

feed ramp wear

If you do not have any problems with feeding, I would not worry about. If you have feeding problems, in the future, I would take it to a qualified gunsmith and have him polish the ramp and chamber for smooth feeding. If you do not know what you are doing, you will compound the problem and have some serious issues.

Haha. Blue fuzz on my sons burp cloth... yes I used my 6 month old sons burpcloth as a backdrop while he and the wife were out shopping.
