Just got a 15-22 MOE version. While disassembling for inspection, I noticed there isn't a feed ramp for the rounds. Its just a flat face.
I have not shot it and won't feed a round in there unless I am at the range but it seems weird that there is no feed ramp or someway to assist/guide the round getting into the chamber.
Are all 15-22's built this way? It looks as if some other models have feed ramps in the post and videos I have seen.

There have been reports of the feed ramp breaking off.

Some examples reported here.

"Sent mine off a couple of weeks ago to S&W because of the broken feed ramp."

"Well, it finally happened. I was out this last weekend shooting my M&P15-22, and it just stopped working all of a sudden. I noticed that none of the rounds were making it into the breech, but rather, stopping just below it. I removed the mag and out fell a small metal part. It was the FEED RAMP! Yikes!!!"

"So after two weeks at the factory, I received my 15-22 back from S&W on Tuesday (with an extra mag). If you recall, the first time out it sheared the feed ramp off after 6 rounds."

Look closely at the breech face. Never seen one without a feed ramp -- other than photos of broken off feed ramps.

I'd take this back to the retailer and get a new one.

How about some pics?

Cant post pics till next week unfortunately. Hmmm, this is a head scratcher.

My S.N. starts DTH****. No feedramp until after recieving it back from S+W. It looks like the feedramp is integral to the chamber/battery,(not a seperate part). I called to ask for an itemized list of work done, but was told there is none. They are just, by default, brought up to current mfg spec.

Thanks for the info guys, once i return I will get this figured out. Still a mystery to me as to why the latest version doesn't have a ramp.
Since I am not home I can't really look at it and try feeding rounds so it's driving me crazy.
Will let you know what I find out.

They do not ALL have a feedramp as the O.P. stated.

I don't see how MY feedramp could be broken off as it is the same piece of steel as that surrounding the chamber.

Anyone with knowledge of this please enlighten us.

Thanks RB

i have a DTZ5*** and it does have a feed ramp.

The feed ramp built onto the "barrel exstention" it is separate from the barrel itself

Have you called S&W? They will give you THE definitive answer. Mine has a feed ramp too, and to be honest, I'm not sure how this rifles design would work without one.

mine came without a feed ramp (didn't realize it until after I came home from the range and inspected it and found this forum). needless to say, my first experience with the gun was very frustrating - couldn't get the rounds to chamber. you could see on mine a rough area where the feedramp had come off though.

i sent it back and it's been working well since.

here's what it looked like

This makes ABSOLUTELY no sense.. How can a rifle leave S&W with the feed ramp broken off... How could they possibly have test fired the rifle?

*confused*

:confused::confused: so now we are getting guns shipped without feed ramps? I am very very very glad that somebody had a picture of this because i just about didnt believe it.

JS,

I didn't believe it either! I mean, how is it even possible? The firearm can't possibly chamber a round without a feed ramp, so how in tarnations was this thing "test fired" at the factory before it was shipped out.

It boggles the mind!

AND it's completely unacceptable!
