I'm finally getting around to posting pictures of this Pre-27. I found it online last year during the 4th of July holiday. It was marked at $595 and described as a Model 27 357 magnum. There were two pictures in the ad that showed what appeared to be a decent condition 5" pre-27.

I'm a sucker for the 5" 27's. I called the store and was able to question the salesman while he handled the gun. I took a chance that the condition was as described. I did not haggle on the price. I think I got lucky. The grips number to the gun. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. It shipped to W. Bingham Company in Cleveland back on March 7, 1956.

Considering the number of times I have paid too much, had buyer's remorse, paid for the thoroughbred and received the mule, etc. etc. I think I did pretty good on this one. I wiped it down with ren wax and it photographed so nice I wanted to share the pictures.

I have to wonder....if it had the short barrel...would that have made it a $1,000 gun?

What makes you think that THAT is not a $1000 gun??

Wish I had stumbled across that one! ;)

Crabtree, in my book, that is a $1000 plus gun anytime! Great pictures, by the way.

As we all know, gun shops don't always know what they have or what they're worth. Yours is a perfect example. I had the same thing happen with a near new model 15-3 for $315 OTD at my LGS. Also on a like new Model 27 no dash with a nice set of Cokes on it. That's what gives us hope in the collecting world.

My LGS always knows what the used guns are worth, then they add a couple hundred or so on top of that. :(

Let me be the first to ask if you want to make a quick $100.00 by selling it to me. $695.00 would be a great deal for me, heck I might even offer to pay the shipping..

Are you just interested in what it's worth? I think a five-inch barrelled M-27 is a better using gun than a 3.5-inch. I don't even consider 3.5 and 8.3 inch barrels.

Many will pay a premium for a five-incher. I like them a lot.

My experience is that the six-inch is the best N-frame .357. But I don't buy guns to collect them. If you do, the one you have is a great buy and a great gun, too.

Nice revolver, you got a really good deal, here in CA it would cost over 1k at most shops. Let us know how it shoots.
