Well, the doctors and I are making progress. For the last 30 days plus I have not been able to eat any solid food at all without it coming back up and some liquids too. I have lost over 50 pounds and after just having my spinal column stimulator in at the end of November and recovery has been slow and now even slower since this. Last week I had an upper GI (not enough four letter words to describe that) and they found acid reflux and a hiatal hernia but no cause for this) so I went and saw a GI doc on Wednesday because my doctor couldn't think of anything else. The GI doc rushed a endoscopy and a colonoscopy which they did this morning. The GI doc is not at all happy with my family doc because they waited so long to get me referred to him. Well, I had both this morning, I slept through the first but lucky me I woke up during the colonoscopy which was interesting to watch on camera, now I know how Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain feels. The good news, at least some of it is that they found a food bolous in my stomach which they have no idea where it came from, but they pumped air in my stomach and it slipped through. That was blocking the food coming in and emptying out so nothing was digesting. It is a possibility that the meds I was taking post op slowed down the system and essentially calcified the mass. They still have a few things to check, but everything else is clean and I am in excellent health plumbing wise but they are going to do some biopsies and a catscan but I have been eating today for the first time since New Years. I have to take it easy and start off with soft foods, but the tomato soup and lobster bisque I have had tonight tasted better than anything I have eaten in a very long time. Luckily we caught this before it got worse and I am glad once the docs got on the same page things have progressed quickly. The GI doc though is being very thorough because he had one patient with the stimulator like this that had some issues just like mine so he and the surgeon are getting together to compare notes. Hopefully there won't be a problem because this thing was very painful putting in, I don't want to take it out. But one hurdle is over and if ll goes well I am looking forward to making some Brunswick stew next week.
