I have been feeling the need for a new custom revolver. It does not need to meet any set of rules as I live in the middle of nowhere and it's a long drive to anywhere else! I saw some NIB model 64s for about $495.00 or so. Not a steal, but an OK price. I am thinking about a custom barrel - Maybe a Krieger just for exotic taste. Not too big around, maybe 3/4" and 6" long. I'm not too sure about the sight an Aimpoint or Ultradot would be OK, or perhaps a skeltonized Aristocrat rib. If you wild and crazy guys have any ideas let me know, I'm not opposed to making this a group project od sorts, it may take me a while. Have at it.

Best as always,

Dwight

Since you're going to customize it anyway, why not start with a used Model 10 or 64 (maybe a police trade-in like from J&G Sales) in good condition and send it off to someone like Clark or Alex Hamilton. I'd really like to have a PPC gun with an Aristocrat rib on it. Have fun.

Keep this in mind ....If you're just playing with it then yes look for the "cheaper" gun BUT if you're going to sink some money in it don't buy a worn gun...I see alot out there say " well I'm going to do this and build that" and buy a worn out carry gun ....get as nice as you can in the pack ...it helps in the long run.

I am pretty sure I'd start with a new or pretty close to new gun.

Since you're thinking .38 Special, have you ever considered building a really nice 3-inch Model 15? I have always wanted one but never spent the money to have one done up right - sight properly installed, re-crowned in the correct style, barrel remarked, and all that.

Not a PPC gun, I know, but it would make a nifty .38. :)

I have two 3 inch 64's. One I am planing to re-chamber to 9mm and have the barrel cut to slab side. Probably more to come but that's it for now.

I traced down a BO-MAR rib made for a standard model 14 barrel. I'm thinking about a slim diameter coustom barrel (Krieger??) in stainless on a model 14 I have. I think I will switch it to a .500 hammer for single action shooting anless I can convince a gunsmith to make a version of the King's cockeyed hammer for me.

Hey, I was wondering if you are an old devil dog? I am an 0311(Infantry-rifleman in the Marine Corps) for guys who never joined up, and was wondering why you don't have the E.G.A. next to your name? I never liked the Beretta 9mm's they had us fire in the Marines, I will always like the big bores, but they are easy to get a good group with. Sounds like a nice piece you are working on.

A cool PPC gun would be a Model 64, with a Bull barrel of four inches with the sides slabbed, and a 4" Aristocrat rib and a supertune and DAO.

I think Alex Hamilton built one 3 decades ago but it was a great lookin PPC gun a guy could wear for CCW and double as a range gun.
