Female Appendix IWB - suggestions?

For a tucked holster have you considered a Belly Band? When worn at belt level (not around the mid-section like the ads show) it is very comfortable and the gun can be positioned almost anywhere around your waist. Both big and small guns have worked very well for me, and they're not real expensive.

I can't say I wouldn't consider them. It'd have to be one that I could easily take off without totally removing your pants.

Warmer months are approaching and it'll be like starting all over again with concealment options with less clothing.

They do appear more comfortable - so, we'll see what the future holds.

I've never had to totally take off my britches to remove it, just usually unsnap the fly and take it off. The nice thing about Belly Bands is that you can wear them under an untucked shirt or one that is tucked in. The tucked shirt obviously needs to be bloused a bit or the gun will print, but I don't want to wear skin tight clothes anyway. They are very comfortable. I once carried my M640-1 .357 Magnum in one with a Bianchi Speed Strip in the little slot in front of the gun for 17 hours and literally forgot it was there. They can also be used as a money belt should the need arise. I think you may like it if you try it.

I like the Bianchi Pro 100 series and have a two or three of them for different guns. I always carry IWB between my hip bone and belly button. I find the Bianchi to be sleek and comfortable for the KelTec .380 on a daily basis.

Jim,
Have you ever heard of anyone wearing a belly band while at the gym and do they actually work-out with it (jogging)?

You got me thinking about one of these..... for some of the other summer clothing I wear. What brand do you recommend?

If you don't mind a smaller caliber, get a Kel-Tec P32, and their belt-clip that they make for it. When you use the clip, the back of the grip is all that's visible. Can't even tell what it is. That clip will allow you to carry anywhere that you have an edge to clip over, and the gun is light enough that you can wear it without a belt. The ONLY drawback I can
see, is that you'd be carrying a .32 ACP. The upside, is that you CAN
take it anywhere, and being DAO, there's no safety or anything else
to slow you down. Just "point-and-click (bang)". And with either hand!
Good luck, and please let us know what you try, and results.
It's a learning process, as you've found out. The amount of accrued knowledge on this forum is incredible, so you will find the
right set-up. TACC1

Jan, sorry this took so long, got too darn busy.
My Belly Band is a Bianchi. I think it is the Ranger model.I'm not sure if they still make it, but if not there is probably something comparable.
I can't say I have heard of anybody at the gym wearing one. I suppose it could be done but I see some problems. One,it would have to be a very light gun. Workout clothes don't usually have a strong waistband, so the gun is going to work up momentum as you run. I wouldn't want it falling out,and the Belly Band is not a stiff holster,it relies on the pants to keep the gun secure. Two,it would have to be stainless or polymer. Sweat would rust a blued gun in the first workout. Three, if you use their locker room facilities it will be tricky. I don't know what the women's locker room is like but I'm a member of the YMCA and in the men's we all go in there and strip down in front of a bunch of other guys. (I know, it sounds gross, I try to ONLY make eye contact). If you are wearing a gun in an environment like that it is going to be spotted. That may not bother you, and in some states it would be OK, but then people are going to see you put it in a locker. I would not feel comfortable having people know there is a gun in my locker, and the gym may have a problem with it too. If there is a private changing area this is not a problem.
Probably a better idea while jogging would be a pocket holster. With sweatpants it might not work, but if the pant have a little more substance it should.
I think if you try a Belly Band you'll really like it.I have heard it can be worn differently on women, but something should work. The thing I like is the shirt can be tucked in over the gun.You just grab a hunk of shirt, rip it up, expose the gun and draw. It's not a quick-draw method, but it works very well.
Take care and let us know what you decide to do.

Thanks Jim!
Especially for the honest thoughts/feedback. At the current time, I put the gun in my CC purse and lock it in the lockers at the gym - so there's absolutely no exposure. But after hearing about the LA Fitness shootings a while back and not long ago - someone cut off the locks in the mens locker room at my own local gym (not LA fitness) - it kinda got me thinking to wear it. If there's any place I wanna be more protected than others, its the gym! :D

Ok, I'd thought the belly band was more of an huge elastic belt that somehow velcroed/clipped to itself around your waste and your pants weren' really needed for support. So - my bad for that assumption. And the sweat thing....Yeah, not a good idea.

For the gym, I might have to consider wearing a fanny pak. I'll have to poke around and do some more research.

Thanks again!!!

Jan, actually the Belly Band is an elastic band that fastens with velcro, or at least mine is. It's about 4" wide. It really is pretty secure in most cases, but the thing is you're talking about vigorous physical activity here. That is where it gets tricky with traditional workout clothes, which I'm assuming you're going to wear. The pants help hold the gun secure on your waist.
The fanny pack may work, but once again, a light gun is best. I don't know as I've never tried one.
Other than at the gym, I think a Belly Band would fit your needs very well. Take care and let us know how it works,
Jim:)
