Were there any 19-2s made that were not pinned and recessed? Have to ask...

Looks like yours was made in 1966, the last year for the -2 variation.

Rust is generally a killer. Rough cloth (maybe burlap) soaked in oil and rubbed on the corrosion might remove it if it hasn't penetrated into the metal. But expect some degradation of the finish from doing this. It won't look like new when finished. Rust is bad.

"Were there any 19-2s made that were not pinned and recessed? Have to ask..." - I don't know.....Just trying provide as much information as possible, in order to get correct answer.
Thanks for help.

19-5's were the first that were not P&R.
For minor rusting, I start with gun oil and some bronze (not steel) wool. Won't hurt the bluing and usually does a decent job.

For fine or freckle rust I use a product found at auto parts stores called NeverDull. It is a non-abrasive solvent polish in cotton batting. It will remove light rust and not dull blue finishes.

Don't mind Saxon Pig, he just can't help it...
I don't...LOL....I got fat skin....It would take SaxonHog to hurt my feelings.....
By the way anybody ever used vinegar on the rust spots(I think someone told me about it long time ago)

This is a common question, I have NEVER needed to try this but several posters have suggested using W-D 40 and the edge of a copper penny to remove surface rust. I would think that a VERY light touch is needed.
