Of all the pre-29s, 29-1s 29-2s, etc in my collection, this worn, lowly -3 shoots the best....



Yes the stocks are much earlier, but I like them and they work for me....



Stoked with a health charge of IMR-4227 this one shoots a 242 grain SWC very, very well.

I guess "field (or woods) gun" depends on your location. I'm located in Florida so my field gun is based on potential local dangers...rabid skunks/fox/coyote, dogs, snakes (Eastern Diamondback and Cotton Mouth/Moccasin) and 2 legged varmints. My most commonly carried gun is the 4" model 66-3 which is kept loaded with my handload of 158gr SWC-GC @ 1,100 fps. It's carried in an old Galco cross-draw leather holster.
