Last night on Hannity show on Fox, Senator Rand Paul said he WOULD filibuster ANY gun legislation that comes up in the future. He said ANY. Said a letter was sent to Senator Harry Reid informing him of this. Thank you Senator Paul. Likewise, thank you Senator Lee and Senator Cruz. It is very good to know there are Senators like you out there.

Letter to Majority Leader

Rubio R-FL & Inhofe R-OK have also signed on for this. 60 votes required, yeah baby!

Dear Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid,

We, the undersigned, intend to oppose any legislation that would oppose on the American people's constitutional right to bear arms, or on their ability to exercise this right without being subjected to government surveillance.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution protects citizens' right to self-defense. It speaks to history's lesson that government cannot be in all places at all times, and history's warning about the oppression of a government that tries.

The only remaining questions at this point? First, why hasn't every Republican in the Senate signed onto the letter? Along the same lines, where are all of these Democrats who go home to their red and purple states and claim to be "pro-2nd Amendment?" They've been talking the talk, so when do they ever start walking the walk? :D :D :D

There are 14 republicans so far.

Joining Kentucky Sens. Paul and McConnell are Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Mike Lee (R-Utah), James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Richard Burr (R-N.C.), Mike Enzi (R-Wy.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Jerry Moran (R-Kans.), Pat Roberts (R-Kans.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Dan Coats (R-Ind.) and Mike Crapo and James Risch of Idaho.

We need to send these men a thanks for defending our second amendment.

Saw this morning that the President flew the people of Newtown to DC to back him with Airforce One at out expense. How did Bill Crosby put it, "knucklehead". Thats just bad politics. I feel sorry for the people as much as anybody but these laws are not going to stop this sort of thing.

Hopefully these 14 will be enough to stop any and all attempts to deprive us of our rights. Thank you to the Senators that take their oath seriously.

Wherever we end up after this vote I'm glad to be among the fighters. I've been as vocal and engaging as possible trying to give kids especially, a sense of what the 2A is for. I guess what gets me most at the moment is the utter lack of respect for the past generations that purchased our freedoms and for future generations who may need the 2A's protection. There is a mindset out there with an extremely selfish, narrowly focused perspective and it is frightening when you can't make the slightest dent in it. Its not going to get better unless the next generation is enlightened, but most efforts are to the contrary. Good job to everyone who's written to their reps and posted, shown up for rallies or done whatever they can. The combined weight of our response has limited the infringement on the national stage for now. Take a breath and stay at it...'cause it won't ever be over in our lifetimes.

This is far from over. All today's vote means is that the Senate will debate the legislation. One of my senator's, Graham-R (SC), voted to allow the debate. He explains his vote on his webpage. One of several reasons was to make all of the senators come out of hiding & vote on the proposals. All of them will have to show their hand on the record.
