Finally! 100% Correct Victory Model

Hm... So it seems that I will definitely have to get a factory letter to determine its destination. Now allow me to ask this: to what extent did the US Army issue these? Were these issued to pilots in the Army Air Force? It seems like most of the pictures I see of personnel carrying Victories were Navy pilots. I recall a couple of Coast Guardsmen having them, but don't ever remember seeing any pictures of infantry with a S&W Victory or a Colt Commando, though Commando usage was scarce. I'd like to put a gun belt rig together for my revolver. I remember seeing a Navy marked six loop pouch for .38 cartridges posted somewhere (Gunboards maybe?), but I also recall reading that personnel armed with revolvers were permitted to carry spare ammo in a first aid pouch. I think Charlie can help me out on that one.

"... though Commando usage was scarce."

Allegedly Eisenhower carried a Commando. Some significant number went to the Merchant Marine.

I do remember reading that Ike had a Commando. Never mentioned if it was a 4" or a 2" barrel. When I stated that the Commando usage was scarce, I was referring to infantry/Army. I should have clarified that. I think the Navy received some Commandos and they tried to get more after an accidental discharge with a Victory resulted in the death of a sailor. But, S&W quickly responded with the hammer block upgrade. With that, did the Navy or S&W retro fit existing Victories with the hammer block?
