Finally, A 4" 29-2 Found In California!

A pinned and recessed NICKEL 29 came into the shop today! It is probably gonna cost me an arm and a leg, but how do you resist something like this? Bill

Just get it. The kids will learn to like ramen noodles and generic soda pop . And learn a lesson about priorities, too! How long is the barrel on this one, my fellow Californio? 8 3/8's seem to be the most common i encounter out here. I got this one a few months back.

Wyatt, It's a 4"! If it was an 8 3/8" I could resist the temptation. No flame cutting, no dings, and a perfect set of walnut target stocks! about 99+% overall. I gotta have it!!! LOL!

Disaster! The guy decided he did not want to put it on consignment! I'm heartbroken! Oh well, I guess it was not meant to be.

I've been watching for a 4" 29-2 for a while...seems like most of the ones on GB are nickel and I personally prefer blue (great find by the OP by the way!).

Does anyone know what the approximate relative numbers of blued vs nickel 29-2s produced were? Are the nickels more common as it seems, or are the blues just more desirable and less likely to come up for sale?

I bought a sweet blued 4" 29-2 from of all places, Gander Mountain. $ 500.00 in December 2011. No box,great condition,great shooter.
Just took a minor hit on GunBroker on a 4" Python, claimed "98%",in the HAM Radio world we would call this piece a Screwdriver Joe Special. Every screw slot shows burrs,I am boxing to send to Colt.

Hi,

I'm living in belgium and i've found a nice s&w 29-2 4". 400$
I have two questions.
Can you tell me if it's the original wood grip? The color is due to the flash.
And do you know if some police units have used the 29?
Thanks in advance for your help

Great find and price especially in CA.

The grips are factory S&W but are not original to the gun. For $400 I would get it anyways as long as it checks out ok.

I bought the gun today and pick it up later. I told the seller that it was great seeing a younger guy into older classic sixguns. The gun had an action job done at some point and is amazing. I have two tuned up S&W's and this one seems smoother than those. I always considered my 4" 24-3 the ideal gun for someone who reloads. I still think that's true but this gun is real close. What a finechunck of all american steel. I think this gun and my 3 1/2" 27-2 are going to push the other ones to the back of the safe.

Thanks. Can you tell me where i can buy the original grip? I ou have any links with a photo oc thé original grip, i will be very happy. Thanks
Bye
