Been wanting a CS9 for a couple years. I'm not a rich guy, so waiting for the right deal to come along. I never thought I'd see one in LGS so been watching online for some time. For very nice shape, plus shipping, plus FFL transfer, typically $600+ by the time it's in my hands. I wanted early stainless version, with left side only safety, which narrowed my auction choices even more. One showed up recently at LGS in truly like new condition! Couldn't even see evidence of firing. No box, 2 mags, $400 out the door! Now we're talking!
This is for concealed carry. Looking for stealth/concealability on this one, as I have 3913's already. Wife wanted something smaller for summer carry, but wanted to stick with all metal, DA/SA trigger, and 9mm. As you all know, that is a tough thing to find out there, and to my knowledge the CS9 is the smallest pistol to fit all these criteria. (Many options in plastic, DAO, or striker of course).
What I've done to it:
First off, installed new recoil spring (midway $3).
I had a gray delrin grip that I removed from my 3913NL just sitting around. I figured what the hell...I'm very handy, have dremel and tools, and cash poor, I'll try fitting it up myself. If I trashed it, I'd just save up for BigDog's. It's slow painstaking work, probably 5+ hours all told. I'm quite happy with the result. Fit's tight and aligns like factory. I don't like the plastic rear sight, as no set screw and I can push it out with my thumb! So I fitted with refurb 3913 rear (thanks nocents!). Birchwood dayglow green front dot, dayglow red for rear dots (like I do on all my 3 dot sights). Eventually I want to get trijion night sights for it, but good for now. I don't like small gap between back of slide and sight, but slide is milled different on 3913, so it is what it is. Lastly, to make it even smaller and print less...I replaced mag pinky base plate with metal plate for Kahr MK9 (perfect fit, thanks to you guys). Fits in the front pocket of my khaki shorts!
Edit: RANGE REPORT: Love it! added image of first target, first several mags, on first range session at 50' off hand firing 1 shot about every 2 seconds. I'm no expert, and I know this pistol could do much better in the right hands & with right ammo. I really don't ever shoot my 3913's any better than this...and I have thousands of rounds of practice on those. No failures of any kind using 115gr Federal, or 124gr Blazer brass. Really fun to shoot, and wife was doing great with it too (she's already trying to adopt!)
Brilliant! Congrats! I love my Cs9 and sure wish more like it were made these days... thanks so much for posting, I'm gonna steal that idea with the Kahr baseplates. That's exactly what I need
Edit: can you please let me know where to get some?
