Finally, a CS9! In stealth mode

Been wanting a CS9 for a couple years. I'm not a rich guy, so waiting for the right deal to come along. I never thought I'd see one in LGS so been watching online for some time. For very nice shape, plus shipping, plus FFL transfer, typically $600+ by the time it's in my hands. I wanted early stainless version, with left side only safety, which narrowed my auction choices even more. One showed up recently at LGS in truly like new condition! Couldn't even see evidence of firing. No box, 2 mags, $400 out the door! Now we're talking!

This is for concealed carry. Looking for stealth/concealability on this one, as I have 3913's already. Wife wanted something smaller for summer carry, but wanted to stick with all metal, DA/SA trigger, and 9mm. As you all know, that is a tough thing to find out there, and to my knowledge the CS9 is the smallest pistol to fit all these criteria. (Many options in plastic, DAO, or striker of course).

What I've done to it:
First off, installed new recoil spring (midway $3).
I had a gray delrin grip that I removed from my 3913NL just sitting around. I figured what the hell...I'm very handy, have dremel and tools, and cash poor, I'll try fitting it up myself. If I trashed it, I'd just save up for BigDog's. It's slow painstaking work, probably 5+ hours all told. I'm quite happy with the result. Fit's tight and aligns like factory. I don't like the plastic rear sight, as no set screw and I can push it out with my thumb! So I fitted with refurb 3913 rear (thanks nocents!). Birchwood dayglow green front dot, dayglow red for rear dots (like I do on all my 3 dot sights). Eventually I want to get trijion night sights for it, but good for now. I don't like small gap between back of slide and sight, but slide is milled different on 3913, so it is what it is. Lastly, to make it even smaller and print less...I replaced mag pinky base plate with metal plate for Kahr MK9 (perfect fit, thanks to you guys). Fits in the front pocket of my khaki shorts!

Edit: RANGE REPORT: Love it! added image of first target, first several mags, on first range session at 50' off hand firing 1 shot about every 2 seconds. I'm no expert, and I know this pistol could do much better in the right hands & with right ammo. I really don't ever shoot my 3913's any better than this...and I have thousands of rounds of practice on those. No failures of any kind using 115gr Federal, or 124gr Blazer brass. Really fun to shoot, and wife was doing great with it too (she's already trying to adopt!)

Brilliant! Congrats! I love my Cs9 and sure wish more like it were made these days... thanks so much for posting, I'm gonna steal that idea with the Kahr baseplates. That's exactly what I need

Edit: can you please let me know where to get some?

I might have tried the floor/lock plate too....had I known the one on cs9 was plastic. Not sure if kahr fits, but pretty sure it would, slight fitting at worst. That way metal lock nub on bottom of mag, instead of plastic. Those here https://shopkahrfirearmsgroup.com/pistol-parts/kahr-037cm40-magazine-base-lock-037m9s.asp

I can also swap floor/lock plate from one of my 39xx mags. Those are metal also. But different spring gauge means floor plate hooks to spring differently, slight mod needed.

Thanks so much! I'm ordering some right now

I just ordered the LS safety from Numrich to trim down my slide profile. Next is a new front sight. I think I'll get the trijicon front. I need to check it's height vs factory height for POI. Right now my factory POI is combat style, which I do like for defensive pistols. For the rear I like all black, so I just blacked out my rear dots

You must have the latest version cs9 with steel rear site and ambitious safety. I've heard others say that safety isn't necessarily a drop in part, and may take some fitting. I toyed with the idea on one of my 3913's, but never did it. My EDC is an NL model with left side only....which I also prefer. Trij front post would be nice, I know they still make them...good idea to confirm height to keep POI same. Let us know how safety works out!

Yes a buddy of mine who is a GS told me to get a new sear disconnect lever with it, which I did. I'll for sure give updates on whether or not it requires fitting, and how that goes. Mine did come with ambi decocker and steel night sights. I don't need want the ambi, and the night sights are dim however. I found the trijicon front sight for around $50 at optics planet. When I get time I'm going to check the specs

For the record, I started off in the CS pistol world with a CS-45. The CS-9 came to me only about a year ago. I was not much concerned with blue finish or not. It just kind of happened.

He speaks the truth. Relamp pretty cheap, and you just send the slide of course. No ffl hassle either, as considered a part...not firearm.

If they did,I wouldn't have had to get a shield 9.
A 3913/908 would be nice to find as well.

Oh, you would still have to get the Shield. I have one in 9mm & .40S&W.....they are some of the best pistols I have, but just to have one of the older, all metal Smiths. People who own them must be pretty reluctant to let go of them.....you just don't see any of them around.

Not a fan of strikers and poly pistols myself....but that's only a preference issue, not related to quality,
performance or reliability. Modern pistols do have some advantages. Yes, the "all metals" are getting harder to come by and more expensive. Especially rarer versions like shorties, 10mm's, 58's, etc. But still many great pistols to be had in that $500-700 range (39xx, 45xx, 10xx, csx, 645, 745, etc) that will be worth much more in 10-20 years when most will be in collections, and few for sale anymore. Time to buy!

Fit like it was made for it. Thanks again for the tip!

Dang! Now I'm gonna have to place another order, and pay more shipping. That floor plate locking tab looks great with the base plate. The stock CS9 floor plate (as you've seen) is plastic with kind of a skinny, sharper plastic locking nub. I'll be ordering those floor plates now too. Looks awesome. Thanks for sharing that those in fact fit...and for the nice picture to show. Doug

I was so happy when I saw yours with it because I was wanting something like this for summer time carry. This Kahr base mod is very slick. Hey my LS Safety came in also. Soon I too will be in stealth mode hahaha
