Finally caved and installed an Apex FSS and trigger

I own a couple of FS M&Ps, a Pro and FS both in 9mm. My Pro has been my go to pistol for IDPA and steel matches, and have been very pleased with its accuracy and trigger. My FS was fine, and didn't have any issues, but even after a few hundred rounds and polishing the USB, and trigger bar was not as nice as my Pro. So like a kid caving to peer pressure I went ahead and installed an Apex FSS and polymer trigger. It wasn't incredibly difficult with the exception of getting the trigger pin in(took a couple of attempts), and it only took about an hour and a half going relatively slow. I even adjusted the trigger bar loop just like in the Apex video. Now all I need to do is test it at the range.

I can pretty much guarantee you will be very happy with the results of installing the FSS in your FS 9mm. I know I was happier than a pig in slop the first mag I shot after doing the install. I went from an average of 6"-8" groups with the stock trigger to 2"-3" groups with the upgrade. IMHO it is as close to a 1911 trigger break as you are going to get in a polymer gun. Now get to the range and give us a report.

I hope to get to the range tonight or tomorrow. One thing I like so far is the flatter face of the trigger and the little take up and short reset. I may add the same trigger to the Pro.

Rog, it will improve your Pro as well. When I did my Pro the take up and reset both got shorter but I lost the tactile reset feel. I ended up having to install the Apex RAM to get the reset sound and feel back. Looks like you had to go out and buy the necessary tools to do the job. I too bought some tools for the job. I had never drifted a rear sight or done any of the other operations before. It's really gratifying when you get it all back together and it works as designed.

My neighbor has the Apex Trigger Kit installed in his M&P 9C and he likes it. Kinda pricey but I am thinking of getting one for my M&P 40C.

I'm going to shoot his 9C first and then decide.

Well, I gotta say that I'm very happy. Crisper break on the trigger, and the short uptake and reset were very nice. I can't wait to try it next week at an IDPA match, and also decided to go full ESP and bought an SSS aluminum mag well with aluminum base plates, and Dawson adjustable rear and Dawson FO front sight.

It wasn't that bad and I took my time and helps if you have the appropriate tools for the project. I've always tackled hobby jobs, including wiring my bass guitars with preamps, and pickups.

Thanks. Yeah, I had some punches but decided to buy roll punches and the armorers block to help. I agree it was very gratifying and now have a better understanding of the internals. I may eventually do the Pro but want to keep it stock for now so I can shoot it in SSP.

Thanks Carrie. I'm liking it so far, and the range results were nice considering it was my first time shooting it with the new polymer trigger. Sometime in the near future I may order the same kit for my Pro.

I too did the Apex kit. Took my M&P40FS from being a gun I was considering selling to one that I am content with as a HD pistol.
