Finally found a 3" k frame

Been searching for a 3" k frame that I could afford for quite a while. So when this 64-7 came up on gunbroker at a good price and no one else bid on it, I snatched it. Came with pachs, so I added these grips as soon as I got it. Trigger is as smooth as my wife's 66 and I can't wait to shoot her. Just need to find a good holster for her.

I would suggest checking with LOBO Leather. That is who I went with, when I was lucky enough to locate one last year, after hearing about his work on here. I went with his Enhanced Pancake and added a couple of speed loader holders.

I took it out to the last qualification we had and it performed well. Of course I did have one person ask me if that was my covered wagon that was parked in the lot.

On another note where did you get those grips? I like the looks of them.

I'm with 326MOD10, I would like to know more about those grips. I have three 3" K frames, a 13, 65 and 66. I like the 65 best.

Thanks for the info 36MOD10. I will check into lobo leather. This gun deserves to be carried with something of quality. As far as the grips I found them on ebay. Seller had two, this set and a set of blonde wood conversion grips. I believe he still has those for sale.

If you are open to a suggestion for a holster, I have been using N82 for both my J and K frames. In the really hot weather they are more comfortable for me. I use two different sizes and find myself using them for both semi-autos and revolvers. The are American made and you have a Lifetime Warranty that covers all craftsmanship and materials under normal use. They will repair or replace the holster at no charge including shipping the holster back to you! That is hard to beat.

I will admit that mine get casual use rather than everyday usage. I am in my third year of using them. BTW I use the tuckable design models.

Very nice! I am stalking a 3" K frame .38 special myself but haven't come across the right one yet. I have Lobo leather for my 3" 65 and 66...I'm sure the same holster will work for my 64 when I find it.

Hard to go wrong with a 3.0 inch barreled K-frame. A 3.0 inch barreled Model 13 was on my grail gun list for more than 20 years. I finally found a Model 64-3 at an affordable price and bought it for myself one year for Christmas. I thought this would be as close as I would get, and considered myself lucky, and then found a Model 65-3 that I bought from a fellow Forum member that served as another Christmas present the following year. I was finally able to find a Model 13-3 at a gun show, and got it by trading a Model 4006 in excellent condition. I'm not greedy, but I'd love to add a 3.0 inch barreled Model 66 some day (I already have a Model 66 with the 2.5 inch long barrel).

Congratulations on your new 3.0 inch barreled Model 64.

To me, there is no finer revolver than the 3" K-frame. I have several, and when the supply completely dried up I started having them built. My 64-5 used to wear a 4" barrel but I had it replaced with a three, and it's perfect. The 64 is a favorite of mine, I have several!
