FINALLY FOUND A PERFECT MOTORCYCLE HELMET!

All you guys THINKL I bought this new helmet for use on the Harley...... NAH....... I am just about to tell my wife I extended my hunting trip for another week! LOL!! :D:D:D

I just don't like helmets. I've been riding since I was 8 or 9 years old. I'm 65 now and I don't wear one unless I'm somewhere where the law is. I just never could get used to them. If I were to be racing or in a crowded place I would probably use one. Please don't think I have a death wish or something but I believe that helmet laws suck. Just this old hippie's opinion. If you think you need one, wear one.
Peace,
Gordon

A fellow I used to shoot competition with died when, 50 feet from his house, his Road King slipped on some sand while turning the corner at what was less than 10 mph. Whacked his head on the curb. Had a $500 helmet in his trunk behind the seat.

Just preaching to the choir here.

OK, just a little update.

After riding with the new Arai helmet for a week and doing about 400 miles, I am absolutely in love with this thing! My old Harley helmet manufactured by HJC was OK, but now that I've actually got a premium line helmet the difference is day and night. I only wished I had known that years ago!

First off the Arai is sooooo comfortable I can't believe it, Secondly, the Arai has 5 vents that actually work! With the HD - HJC I would sweat my brains out on even moderately warm days - it had only one vent that did squat. This Arai has so much air flow that I can see on cooler days I will have to actually close some of the vents. The third thing I notice is that the new Arai is so much quieter because it blocks much more of the wind noise out.

I just finished installing the J&M Elite 787 Headset for use with the CB. Unfortunately (like many shooters here) my hearing ain't the best anymore and the old H-D communication set was not adequate over 40 mph - too much wind noise and not enough volume. With the J&M they tout it as having much much more volume and much better clarity - but i will see for myself tomorrow.

Anyone in the market for a 3/4 Snell helmet - check this XC model out!

I have been looking for a suitable motorcycle helmet to replace my Harley-Davidson Ultra Jet 3/4 helmet that is now 12 years old. Helmets do break down over time due to heat, sweat, age and the ocassional dropping on the ground and apparently the "experts" suggest replacing a helmet every 5 - 7 years so I was long overdue!

I've searched long and hard for a SNELL rated 3/4 helmet with a multi positionable face shield for over 3 weeks and finally found what I was looking for. It is the Arai brand XC model in Diamond black. It has everything I wanted including the Snell rating and will also accept the new J&M Elite series communications system I am waiting for to arrive. I can't wait to ride with it this weekend! PROPER air venting is also very important to me - my old Ultra Jet model was vented but not very well and was just about worthless.

Since there was no one in my area that sold this particular helmet, I found a place on-line (Revzilla) that was exceptionally helpful in helping me order the correct size and assured me that if I was not happy with it for any reason I could return it for a 100% refund - no questions asked.

So far I am very happy and I got the best price I could find. At $458.00 it is certainly NOT cheap, but it was the highest rated helmet of it's type from anyone I could find.

Just wanted to give some of the motorcyclists here the head-up just in case they are in the market for a new, safe, top rated and comfortable helmet. :)

PS: there are very similar helmets for less money however they are NOT Snell rated which is important to me. There are also some that are Snell rated but hat do NOT have the multi positionable face shield. This one had all the features I was looking for.

You sir have a death wish. If you were someone I knew face to face, I would call them an idiot.

The Snell rating system came from the Harry Snell Foundation which was established after the death of said American in Europe, Harry 50 years ago.

With all the idiots on the road and our own self preservation instincts, I would urge everyone to buy and wear the best helmet they can afford. Try to stay with the big 4 manufactures; Bell, Simpson, Impact and Arai.
