Absent Comrade
Maybe I needed to STOP trying so hard. I've needed a 650 to finish up my modern Kit Gun collection for two or three years now. I've got the rest of them, even a few doubles. But finding a 650 at a fair or reasonable price, WITH box and papers has been nearly impossible.
Since back in June I got bit and bitten HARD by the LR Rifle bug. I have shot a ton of .308 at steel this past summer out to 1260 yds. Having a ball with it. Finally USING some of that stuff that normally gathers DUST from the gun safe.
So I have had the S&W's on the "back burner" so to speak.
Imagine my surprise this last Friday when I get an afternoon call from my friend Randy (MT Helo) and he's asking me "Is it a 650 your still looking for"? He was at the little Helena, Fairgrounds gun show when they opened for the afternoon. Found a 650 in it's original box on a table. originally thought it was a 3" M-64 until he looked closer.
I doubt it took longer than 15 seconds and I told him to snag it. Especially after he mentioned the price which was WELL under current GB prices or even prices here on the forum.
Hardly a super rare model. Hardly a historically notable model. But I'm HAPPY to finally finish up my Kit Guns. And Thanks to my Buddy Randy for looking out for me.
