I've been looking for a while and finally got a nice one in chrome finish, looks like it had only been test fired and not carried. It's a 1975 serial number. It does have one odd mark on the cylinder ejector face- looks like an "N". Any ideas? I have some that are numbered cylinders- 1 is the most accurate cylinder ect.

Thanks

Jeff

Those aren't easy to find. Usually, the snubbies that turn up in the wild are Model 10s.

I never carried nickel guns when I was LE, now as an old guy I seem to like them a lot.
From one old guy to another, they grow on you...:sneaky:...Ben

It looks like you found a very nice nickel Model 19-3 snubby. For the longest time I was purely a blued steel revolver kind of guy, but somehow a few years ago I became attracted to some nickel models. This is a minty Model 19-4 (ca. 1978) that I found at a local gun store. It's a P&R revolver and a fun shooter so I'm good with it. Enjoy!

I had a 19-4, I bought (cheap), as it had been in a home that had a fire. Gun was in a gun rug, and got wet and forgotten about for a month or so. Has surface rust and just beginning to pit. Otherwise the gun was new and unfired. Cleaned it up and had a Metaloy finish put on, (leaving the top strap black), and not having the trigger or hammer done. I think it turned out well.

Wow, it looks great.

Back in the early 70's I bought a new 2 1/2" 19-3 NIB from the sporting goods department of a local store. It was blued and P&R. It had regular grips and narrow trigger and hammer. At some point in time I installed .500 wide hammer and trigger. With that and an action job I had a fantastic shooter and duty weapon. I was working narcotics at the time and that little 19-3 got me out of more than one problem. I went back on the street and put the 19-3 in the sock drawer. It sat there for years and I decided to dress it up a little. I sent it to Smith for a beautiful nickel finish and called Patrick Grashorn who sent me a beautiful set of stags. That was at least 15 years ago and I haven't shot it since. I still get it out occasionally and drool over it. I know the collector value is low for some folks, but I know where it came from, what it did, and what it is. Jr. gets it when I take the dirt nap.

Well dah, sorry guess I'm a little slow LOL -I never carried nickel guns when I was LE, now as an old guy I seem to like them a lot. Thanks

I have been told that nickel scratches easily. That has put me off of them. Plus *I* don't care for bling guns.

I have also been told that chrome will flake in spots as it ages. No one mentions cleaning solvent on this issue, so I just don't know.
