reloading a few .38 Specials. This was my first attempt at this caliber. I have been reloading 9mm, .40S&W & .45acp. I started out with some 158 gr. lead semi-wadcutters, range brass and 3.0grs. of bullseye with winchester primers.

I only loaded 6 rounds last night and went to the range after work today to try them out. At 30 feet I put 5 out of 6 in the black of a standard 50 foot bullseye target. Not bad for me. I am satisfied with the load and will now put togeather a couple hundred rounds.

I put them through a 6" S&W 14-4 by the way.

3.0gr of Bullseye is just a tad light for a 158gr bullet according to the Alliant load data site. They list a Max charge of 3.5gr so taking away 10% would leave a charge of 3.15gr. I'm sure 3.0gr isn't dangerous, just be sure you don't get a squib load and then fire again. That load of yours does sound accurate for sure...

3.5 grains of Bullseye is the perfect load for a 158 grain SWC! I've gone higher, but that load is the most accurate one in all my .38s.
