Finally, my Grail Gun. Model 17-6 4".

After searching for roughly 2 years, a few missed opportunities, and a few out of my price range, I am finally the proud new owner of a Model 17-6 4".


I've chased this configuration for a long time. There have been some that were priced too high and some that I missed by "this much". Finally after a lot of searching, everything came together for me and I was able to bring one home.


Now I feel like my collection is complete.



I'll try to get some better pics with better lighting, but in the mean time here's a couple obligatory crappy cell phone pics.

I think that's the point. Some of us (me) don't like stainless revolvers as much as blued. I no longer buy stainless revolvers and keep looking for their blued equivalents.

That's a beauty and well worth the wait I'm sure. The grain in the sq. butt combats really sets the gun off too! Congrats.

As for any K-22 collection ever being "Complete" ?
Probably more likely one day you may begin to think "Hmm..maybe my 17-6 needs a 617 (no dash) partner gun .

I found a well used one this year, bought it as a shooter.

I paid more for it than any other "shooter" I've ever bought!

But it's a tack driver with standard velocity ammo.

I am glad you found one, cuz I couldn't sell you mine, not after I shot it. Funny thing is I wasn't looking for one and didn't know anything about the 17-6, in fact after I saw it wasn't a 586 I went home and googled it. After learning how desirable they were, I called Scheels to have them hold it while I returned to take custody; a couple months later I stumbled upon its big brother. 6 months ago I didn't even know there was a blued, full lug K frame .22lr, now I have a 4 and 6 inch.

New job: Going well. Settling in nicely and a good group of guys to work with.

New gun: My first post says it all. I'm ecstatic.

New governor: One can only hope. (But beware, because he has White House aspirations. )

Snowing and/or cold: Yes, we've had plenty of snow so far and it's currently a balmy 8° outside.

I just joined the 17-6 4" Full Underlug-Club - and love that little shooter.
Found it at my local club for only 250$, and in super condition.
Always been looking for 6" for the longer line of sight, but surpriced how well it lets med shoot - must be the good balance..... or just the good feel
Now I'm looking for a 586 4" to go with it to the range

My 4" 617 no dash needs to make a field trip...... been using a nice shooter grade 18 the last few years as my field gun.
