Finally own a Luger

Local gunshop had one in stock. It's a 1916 Erfurt model. It's in very good condition. I'll be shooting it either Monday or Tuesday. It was on consignment and the seller was only asking $700 for it. I was suprised, but I field stripped it and checked it out. Everything is working and in very good shape. All serial numbers match.All the correct proof marks are present. I traded a Glock 19 and a S&W 586 for it. I've been wanting a Luger for many many years. This was an opportunity. I was willing to part with those two models if it meant getting a Luger.

I'm 41 years old. Since I was a boy in the late seventies I've always wanted a Webley Mk VI revolver, P08 'Luger' Parabellum and a Mauser C96 Broomhandle pistol. I now own a Webley and a Luger. I'm still hunting for a Mauser. I had an opportunity to purchase an Astra 900 Broomhandle for $1,000 a few months ago but I passed. It was in good shape but I want a Mauser. All things come to those who wait I guess.

Great! I have a 1917 Erfurt and a 1938 Mauser with matching numbers. Very happy with them.

Hi:
You might consider purchasing an extra firing pin and use it for shooting. The Luger firing pins' tip are fragile and will break off with dry firing.

Well, I'm almost 50 and still don't own one, even though, like you, I've wanted one since I was a kid. You got a great deal, and I certainly would have made the trade you did. Congratulations on your find.

I've got a 1915 myself, great shooter. The Walmart Winchester whitebox stuff will run very well in it. Here is a good link with an excellent pictorial takedown page.

I've been visiting Numrich's website today. They seem to have some Luger parts. Thanks for the info about the firing pin.

I've owned several. Talk about a potentially addictive hobby. There's literally no end regarding models and prices. Wait till you start drooling over Krieghoff lugers. But alas, you better know what you're doing. Sounds like you got a heck of a deal if everything matches.

No denying that I lucked out. I've already had somebody ask me on another site to let them know if I come across any Bulgarian DWM Lugers for sale. Evidently they only made 10,000 of those. I'm just startig to realize how vast the Luger field can be.
