Finally! Security Six 2.75"

Here's my 4" blued one. I'd like to add a 6" and a 2.75" if/when I come across them. I have had both, but prefer the blued ones. Not sure what these grips are, I got them in a "grab bag" of grips I bought a while back. At first look I thought they were Redhawk grips but no. Took a little relieving to get them to seat all the way on the Security Six frame but now they are a good tight fit and feel great.

Those are my favorite grips on a 6 inch Security Six. I'd never seen those until a few years ago. Here's what Ruger had to say about them.

For me the more common Ruger "Target" grips with checkering are just too bulky for my hands and never quite felt right.

My first handgun I bought with my own hard earned summer work money was a 6" Stainless Security Six. Took me 10+ years to figure out I should have a 4" to go with it. Then it took me another 15 to find the short one to join the others. These will probably be the last to ever leave my hands.

I paid $175 for my stainless 4" S S. It is in wonderful condition. The stocks were like new so I stashed them away and went with some rubber grips. What a terrific woods gun.

remember going with my brother to a gun shop in Ephrata PA, to pick up something he had ordered. While he was taking care of his business I was looking at the used handguns and had made up my mind to buy either a 2 3/4 inch security six in stainless steel or a 4 inch Smith and Wesson model 10. I debated for a while and finally decided to spend the extra $20 and buy the security six. So I paid my $160 and took it home, of course that was back in the last century ha ha. Some time later, I picked up a 4 inch in stainless for 20 bucks more than I paid for the 2 3/4 incher.
They are great revolvers. Not quite as smooth as a S&W,but as stated before they are built like tanks.

I'm still kicking myself in the rear for selling a real nice Security Six with a 2.75" barrel to a friend that bugged me to death wanting to buy it. It was just so damn ugly when I put it next to one of the S&Ws I had acquired. It was a very nice shooter. A 3" GP100 has helped ease my disgust in my ability to think rationally.

Range Report:

Just got back from the range. First thing I discovered was that the previous owner had the rear sight cranked all the way down. But once I got it adjusted, all was well. I put about 150 rounds through it. A mixed bag ranging from .38 Specials to full house .357s. No problems. In fact the gun is kinda boring. Goes bang every time and hits where pointed. Although I do tend to pull right just a bit in DA shooting. But, I was planning to change the grips anyway and that should fix that. Overall, I'm very pleased with it. :D

Glad it shot well. But be careful...if you get BORED with it sounds like there's alot of guys here who'd LOVE to be bored with it too; myself included!
