Hi all!
First off, I finally found a little time to shoot my new 9mm Shield for the first time. Only had enough time for under 200 rounds, but all were awesome! Winchester white box. LOVE my shield! My first couple of magazines were not too good of a grouping and I found that I was anticipating a stronger recoil. After I settled in with it my groupings were within 2 inches at 15 yards!

My wife has an LC9. She loves it, or did. LOL. She'd always see posts and vids about how horrible the LC9 trigger was and she'd say she didn't understand that because she's really comfortable with it. We are both rather new to guns and have only shot DAO - till my Shield.

We both had 100 rounds each and she shot a few mags through her LC9 then kept going to my Shield. She actually outshot me with my own gun! The guys at the range were razzin me hard about that! She kept saying, "no, it's My gun now - he'll have to get another one." Which, I guess is a good thing! - I told her I shot badly on purpose just for this reason. She knows better!

So now I have a NEW dilemma - do I get another Shield, or do I go for an M&P 9 compact? Hmmmmm - I LOVE how easily the Shield carries but would like to have more capacity if not giving up too much in concealability. Time to hit the youtube reviews!

Anyone want to buy a "slightly used" LC9/LaserMax LOL!

I'd say get both if you can. :) I have the fs9, 9c and a shield. My wife loves my shield, I'll eventually get her one. But if I had to choose just one for now,.I'd go for a 9c. You can use the fs9 magazines in the 9c.

i have a similar story...bought my wife the shield 9, we both loved it so two weeks later, i picked up a shield 40 for myself. she shot the 40 and claimed that one, giving the 9 back to me...

i have the 40c, it was my everyday carry until i got the shield. for grins and giggles one saturday before i bought the 2nd shield, i was running errands that would take me passed my house about half way through...so i stopped and switched from the 40c to the shield, or the shield to the 40c...don't quite remember...anyway, i pocket carried both(my usual way to carry the 40c)...it was a noticeable difference in weight and size in my pocket...the shield was so much easier to carry, weight wise and bulk wise. it was the reason that i decided to buy the 2nd shield. hope my long drawn out story helps.

This is not the first time a wife has swiped a Shield...mine hasn't, but I know of three guys who have lost theirs to the "better half"...

I would say whichever one you feel more comfortable with. Both have their places. It's kinda funny that most people say the capacity of the shield is to small but carry a revolver or 1911 from time to time.

My wife is extremely recoil resistant. Just doesn't like it. However, I've gotten her to shoot the 9mm handguns I have and she has fallen in love with the Shield. I have't surrendered mine yet, but I've promised another for the next pistol purchase. She'll get the broken in Shield and I'll work through the new one.

Similar story here with my gf...she has a LC9 and shoots it good but shot my shield 9 better...even though she liked the feel of the LC9's grip better. Her biggest complaint was the trigger on the Shield...she commented that felt "broken". Her LC9 has Crimson Trace laser which was one of selling points for her. I personally do not care for lasers but they can be a visual deterrent if needed. I installed Apex's new aluminum trigger in my Shield, which she does not know about, and I am going to have her shoot it to get a candid response. May have to get another Shield but I stand behind what feels the best for her.

Work your way in to having both a single stack and a double stack. Each have their pros and cons, so why limit yourself?

To carry a double stack regularly it all comes down to having a good belt, a decent holster and the desire to want to carry it. I use a dual belt connection holster for stability. This is my usually carry method.

The single stack is nice for certain kinds of carry. One example would be, if I know ahead of time I'll need to remove the piece, like entering a GFZ or similar, a small single stack in an over the belt clip in all kydex holster works great in that role. It's very easy to take off and on as a single unit. A double stack is doable in the same kind of holster, but I find they can be a bit too much for that single clip and can tend to walk more on the belt as you move.

Am sure you would find similar situations that each type would work better in than if you had only one type to choose from and had to compromise because of it.
