FINGER AMPUTATION

Dude. Sorry to hear that.

Here's a prayer that your recovery is swift. I guess if you have to lose part of a finger, that's the right one. :(

Sorry to hear about the imminent loss of your pinkie. I don't have any idea about the duration or discomfort of the recuperation period but I'll say a prayer that for you it is fast and pain free and that the loss will not impair your golf swing. ;)

On a side note I'm happy for you that it is not your TRIGGER FINGER on either hand.

His name escapes me, but there was a famous NFL safety that had a finger injury, I think it was a pinky on his off hand who wanted to play in the game on Sunday. So he had the finger amputated on a Friday to play on Sunday.

Ronnie Lott?

I bet you will be fine with the pain in 2 to 4 days, wound sealed up in a week, good to go in two to three weeks, assuming you are other wise in good health with good circulation.

Good luck

My father kept getting reoccuring celluitis infections that required a couple of days in hospital to correct. The source was a bone in his right foot's 2nd toe that was infected and not vascular enough for the antibiotics to kill all of the source material. The decision was made to amutate and he was no worse for wear in a week, but had a bit the phantom feeling for a month or two.

Everyone's a little different, but a good buddy who's no cream-puff lost a top knuckle's worth in a shop accident and after surgery it was almost a year before things normalized.

Pain. Nerve damage. Periodic wound site reopening.

Not trying to make for outsized fear -- it appeared livable, and smoothed out eventually, but didn't look like a walk in the park for such a seemingly little thing as part of a digit; bone and nerve pain ain't no joke.

Best to you...

Ask for morphine for pain it's natural. I got off oxycontin cause it's man made. It hurts our organs.

I pray for a speedy recovery. God bless, bill

My granddad lost the end of his ring finger at the first joint in a farm accident. I believe it took a couple of months to heal. The only long-term complication was that his finger became sensitive to cold. I will pray that all goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

I still have all the parts I was born with, pretty much. Just lotsa wear and tear.
I did get the tip of one of my fingers torn off by a spinning router bit. Tore the flesh off down to the bone. Didn't hurt all that much but bled like crazy.
After the damaged flesh was removed and the remaining flesh was pulled over the end of the bone and stitched up, it didn't really hurt all that bad.
After about a month it was looking fingerlike again. Feels weird but it's just the tip of a finger.
I turned down the prescription for narcotics and got some naproxen instread.

Good Luck With Your Recovery!

No matter if it's just a hang nail? All surgery is horrific!

And like with all surgery, follow their directions. And you'll be fine!

Yeah, we believe you!

Good luck with your recovery.

I'd ask if you can keep the digit after they remove it, that way if anyone ever really ticks you off you can "give them the finger"... ;)

Hopefully the humor helps with the healing.

No tea drinking for you.

Dude, that's cold...........
