Anyone aware of any tests/reviews of or personal experience with this particular load for self defense ammo?

I traded a 1911 recently and now have a new Glock 30. I already had some Hydra-Shoks and Golden Sabers in 230 gr .45 but saw a good deal on a case of the Fiocchi XTPs so I went for it. I've used Fiocchi in .38 Special and I've been very impressed with it. I've read reviews of the Hornady XTP bullets that sounded good too. Just wondering about the Fiocchi loading.

Fiocchi is good ammo and the Extrema line is very well made. Expect that bullet to penetrate deeper than 14" in gelatin. I have no idea regarding how reliable of an expander it is.

XTPs are known to penetrate more than they expand. They aren't horrible, but at 45 velocities I would expect them to act more like FMJ bullets. The FTX bullet is Hornady's newer and better defense offering, used in their Critical Defense line.

I've tried the Hornady CD w/FTX bullets in .38 Special. I was unimpressed with the accuracy in two different J-frames. I'm not a great shot but during the same session I also tested .38 DPX, Hydra-Shoks, Nyclads and Golden Sabers and my accuracy was better with all of them. 'Course at close range, practical accuracy would be more than adequate.
