Fireworks

Over many years and in several locations, I've come to believe that most home fireworks users are irresponsible jerks without an inkling of safety for the neighborhood. Aerial fireworks in particular should be banned from use by home users or at least they should be required to get a license.

Around here, they are, doesn’t seem to mean much though.

You can have my Fireworks
when you pry from my cold dead fingers,
which are right over there by the sidewalk...

Yep. Every year some yahoo decides to change his pronouns to "over there" and "behind the hedges". Just the filter on the gene pool doing its part.

There are few problems that can't be resolved by using the proper amount of explosives.....:D

Fireworks in VA are illegal. Enforcement is almost non-existent. LEO's are usually busy concentrating on more serious crimes and just don't have to time or manpower.

I survived the fireworks stage of my life. I was that guy for a while not sure why but common sense finally prevailed once I hit 60. Slow learner I guess.

50 when i gave them up.
But i still get the itch 10 years later.
and i am betting when my 1-year-old grandson is old enough to like them me and his dad will set a few off at his country home.

Up here You can buy whatever You can afford. So many stupid users, and very few clean up the mess. Only good thing is the hours. 11 to 11. Any one caught after 11PM pays a really stiff fine. And all of the Officers patrol and get overtime

Self confessed fireworks nut here. Was introduced at age 4 by my brother-in-law, by the time I was 7 I was dropping lite M80's into a tube, top with an empty tin can and launch.
Fireworks were totally illegal in Iowa until recent years because of a fire started by fireworks burned down the entire business district of my home town in 1931.
BUT....South Dakota was only 90 miles away, road trip, and everything was available there.
Now that they are legal in Iowa I live in town so very limited in what I can shoot off. Dang it! Oh well, saves me a bunch of $$$.
I've never hurt myself or anyone around me. In my opinion, sparklers are the most dangerous, I won't buy them.

You know, I'm a don't over regulate or step on my freedoms kind of guy, but with regard to fireworks I'm closer to agreeing with UncleEd. Too many unsupervised knuckleheads without any regard to personal safety and fire safety and a total disregard for consideration of others. Too much beer drinking, way too careless, they leave the mess they make for "somebody" else to clean up, they don't stop at a reasonable hour, and are generally indignant with LEO's about their "right" to celebrate as they see fit when we show up to try to reason with them.

Yep, I am not a fan.

Wife caught an errant bottle rocket in the eye.
Of course didn't see where it came from.
Almost had our house burned too .
They need to do away with bottle rockets just because they endanger every body else.
I dont care if you want to blow your own hand off , thats your right.
Just keep your toys on your own property.
Spent some years in the Army playing with explosives,I like big bangs too.

I can see all the fireworks I want if the Pirates get a run or something. Same as the football Steelers. Not counting every event that comes through town. No big deal. Even the locals here don't go nuts with them like they used to. From upstairs or the deck I'm good for most directions. Not that interesting much more.

I shot my muzzle loader today, having black powder firearms blowing up in your face on a regular basis makes fireworks kind of boring. Not exactly blowing up in my face but the smell of real black powder is not easily duplicated, I will spend the Fourth quietly. Friday I will be down on the range with my flintlock smoothbore, a little more like something actually blowing up in your face. Fireworks, eh...
