Has any one had any experience with misfires on revolvers .....

I mean when the hammer is down it is dropped or hit with force causing a round to discharge..... is this even possible?

Anyone ever have a tip break on a hammer?

I know the newer guns that can't happen bc the way it is designed....

Broken hammer noses happen, but rarely. Check the strain screw on the front strap of the grip frame and make sure it is as tight as possible and/or not filed down. That is a classic reason for misfires caused by someone​ trying to lighten the trigger pull, causing light primer strikes. A photo would help. It could be other things, but check that first.

It is virtually impossible for the accidental discharge scenario you are describing to happen in a properly working S&W. There are several internal safeties to prevent an AD. You have both the Hammer Block and the interaction of the Rebound Slide and Hammer that unless modified and or removed would not let that happen.

A broken Firing Pin on a Hammer mounted model will occur once in a rare while but certainly not often enough to be any sort of problem.

If by "newer" you mean any Smith made in the last 70 years.

Welcome! You have asked two separate questions.

As noted above, an intact (no missing or altered parts) S & W revolver made since the mid-1940s cannot fire if dropped, even directly on the hammer. Be strongly suspicious of monkeyed-with internals if this happened.

If by "newer" you mean S & W revolvers with the internal firing pin and flat hammer face (2005 or so onward), I have not seen or heard of one with a broken pin. Do you have an example of one or both of these situations to share? Hope this is helpful.
