First .44mag

First time poster here...really enjoying the wealth of info on this site. Anyway, I recently brought home my first .44mag, a 629 Deluxe 3" Talo.

Today I finally got to spend some time on the range with it and I really enjoyed it. I have been a 1911 guy but lately, S&W revolvers have been growing on me and a few have been found residing in my vault lately. No pics from the range, but here are a few of the gun when I brought it home.

I hope to join in on some discussions here in the future as I begin my educaton process on S&W revolvers.

Beautiful gun, I'm sure you are going to enjoy it! Be warned, you are on a slippery slope- I don't anyone here has managed to keep the revolver population of their safe in check, no matter how hard they may try!

Yes, I am a professional wildlife photographer. Taking images of firearms is not my normal cup of tea. I am used to sitting in a blind for hours on end hoping for my intended subject to present itself in the right spot, at the right time, with the perfect light falling on it. Lots of hours sitting there often times for a payoff that lasted less than 1/100th of a second.

That's a sweet lookin gun! .44 Magnum is a great cartridge and is lots of fun to shoot. If you don't already reload, you should think about starting. It makes it much cheaper to shoot and it's kinda fun

Nice purchase, welcome to the forum and there is a great group of guys here too. I never knew there was so much to learn about the S&W firearms. All of these can be addicting but i'm hooked on the larger N frames too. I been reloading the 44mag cases with jacketed bullets and magnum charges and i use the 44 special brass for the 240gr RNFP leadcast. I get a higher velocity with the same leadcast charge in the special brass over using the magnum brass. Bill

Welcome to the forum and the .44 mag handgun. Very nice shooter you have there. I am also more or less a newbie to the .44 mag also and can't believe how much I enjoy just shooting mine ( 629-6 5 inch ) more than I ever thought I would.
