Hi:
Who remembers their "First Date"?
Mine was 1954. My date was Melba, a childhood playmate who I had played with since we were toddlers. Our parents were best friends.
I drove my Dad's 1948 Dodge 4 door on our first date. We both were dressed in our "Sunday Best" clothes. I picked her up at her parents' house and we went to a movie and ate popcorn. On the way to her house after the movie we held hands. We dated several more times but attended different High Schools and gradually began to just visit on Sundays at Church. Melba's family moved away and we didn't see each other again for fifty years. We had met other people, married, raised families, and are now both retired. We are still very fond of each other.

My first date was with a girl in my civics class. I had just turned 16 and I invited her to go to the Arkansas State Fair. Picked her up at her house, she lived out on a farm, in my 1967 candy apple red Volkswagen Beetle. Went in to meet her parents and two older sisters and got the "be home by 10:30" instructions from dad. We had a great time at the fair, rode some rides, had a couple of corndogs, and dropped her off at home about 10:15, got a my first kiss at the front door. We hit if off pertty well, but even though I saw her everyday in class I didn't ask her out again in high school.

Fast forward to a couple of years after high school and I had a full time job and was going to college at night. One day I had some business at the Arkansas Highway Department and was in the lobby headed to the 7th floor. When the elevator opened for me to get on, low and behold, the girl from my civics class gets off. We visited for a few minutes and I found out which floor and office she worked on, so the following week I returned to the building on business and stopped by her office to say 'hi'.

We've been married 28 years.

First official date, as in no chaperones or going out with friends was with Gina. She was a short little fiery Italian. We had just started out junior year of high school and both of our families had just moved to northern Virginia. We had a couple of classes together and started to hang out with some of the same friends. First date dinner was at Ruby Tuesday's in Fair Oaks Mall and a movie at the theater afterwards.

Her dad "happened" to be at the mall and saw us walking out of the restaurant. We were walking out arm in arm, believe me when I say nothing happened on that date other than a kiss at the front door when I brought her home. She called me in tears the next day. Her dad informed her if he ever saw me with my hands all over her like they were last night he would kill me.

Firmly believing him, I decided the best form of survival was to date someone else. I started dating and having fun. Gina went out on many first dates but not much else. A couple of years later I found out my buddy Dave dated her once. He got threatened with having both of his legs broken.

Having a 4 year old daughter now, the thought of her dating in a few years terrifies me. Yes I have visions of interrogations, brandishment of firearms, and surgically implanted GPS trackers. But then I think about Gina and what she may have missed out on. I've been a successful Architect and last I knew, Dave was doing very well for himself as a marketing executive.

Wonder if Gina ended up an Old Maid?
My first date was pre automobile, a high school classmate, we both lived in town, it had 2 movie theaters, and a walking around quality.

Sandy. She was 14 and sorta hirsute. I was 15 or so, so maybe '67 or therabouts, and mighty naive. Double dated at the drive in, my 16 year old buddy drivin' his dad's stationwagon. Sandy gave me my first serious kiss. "Whoa!," sez I to m'self. "Let's try that again!"

While I didn't date Sandy again, the rest is, ahem, history. ;)

Hi:
Your post started me to looking back:
I had five sons and one daughter.
It was a long time before Daughter was allowed to have a "real date".
The boys that came to the house to see Daughter faced a Father and five brothers who were "Cops".
P.S. Daughter married a "Cop".

Luckily I have a son, but if I had a daughter who dated someone like my son, I know how to handle the dating problem. I would have a heart-to-heart with the boy. I would shove the barrel of one of my guns into his mouth and ask him if he likes the taste of the barrel. I don't care if he says he likes the taste or not, because I would then tell him that if he ever does anything with my daughter that could possibly displease me, then the last thing he would taste in his miserable, worthless life would be that gun barrel.

I took my 5th grade sweetheart Renee to Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywoood to see John Wayne in "The High and the Mighty", I think in 1955. Actually my mom and dad drove us there and picked us up after the show. I met Renee again at our 35th High School Reunion. My wife and her husband kind of looked at us funny the whole evening....she still looked mighty fine!

I don’t remember my first date, but I ate my first fig Dec. 21, 1964.

My first date with Mrs. Chad was about 24 years ago. We worked in the same office and I took her out to lunch. She told me she didn’t date people she worked with. :(

Maybe a week later, she asked me if I wanted to go “up north” to her folks cottage for the weekend with her.

She didn’t tell me her parents and brothers would be there. One of her brothers made wind at the table after dinner, everyone laughed… and the rest is history. :D

Was it a moving experience? :D

I'm not really sure I remember my first date, either, but I remember the first one with my wife. We were Seniors in HS, and I had asked her to the Prom. I didn't really want to wait for the Prom to go out with her, so I asked her to go to the Festival of the Arts in Oklahoma City with me. We had a good time, had lots to eat, and I had her home on time.

I also remember a "Gina" experience. Must have been an Italian thing. We weren't even dating, just friends going to a movie.

My first date was with a girl named "Jean." She and I had dinner and went to a movie. The whole evening was rather tame. I thought she was a great girl. Years later in my senior year of college I saw her on campus. She had moved down from Atlanta and where she had finished college and was then beginning a job at my college. By then I was engaged to my future wife. I hope all went well for her. My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary this past August with a trip out west through Yellow Stone, etc. It was a blast. Sincerely. brucev.

I got a late start dateing but made up for it for many years. I had a lot of bad luck, buried four women. Three due to cancer and one heart attack. I am almost 69 but have only been married a total of 9 or 10 years of them, so was a batchlor for many years. Many lady friends though. With that strikeout record, most of the women were/are much younger than me. First wife was 12 years younger, and this one almost 17 years younger. We just celebrated our 6th anniversry january 17 th.
Theresa takes good care of me! Had each of us not went through what we did, we wouldnt know each other! I belive I would be dead had we not met. I had to get my nose cut off several years ago due to cancer, and I do belive I would have taken my chances had we not been married. My daughter also got married last summer to a great guy that had just done two tours in iracq and afiganistan. He was rescue air para medic. We are proud of them!

My really first date, just her and me was when I was 14 years old and in the 9th grade. I took Kaye to a Steak House for dinner. I ordered the finest ground round, I was just too cool.
James Bond couldn't have out done me. Then I picked up the Heinz 57 Sause. It said, "Shake Well". Didn't occur to me that the lid was loose and about half on. Kaye ended up wearing Heinz 57 down the front of her face and the chest of her dress.
I just about passed out.

I had a way of dealing with the young men who came to date MY two young daughters. I was the Chief of Police of the small town of 20 thousand souls and most folks knew each other. When the nice young men would come to pick them up, I would always be sharpening the Randall #1 I carried in Vietnam and I would tell the young men, "Go in the bathroom there with this Polaroid Camera and take a picture of your privates, cause if you hurt my little girl or make her cry you're going to need it to remember what they looked like."

Worked like a Charm. Had one boy who became infatuated with my youngest daughter and wouldn't leave her alone. We had a discussion about it and he decided that it would be in his best intrest to move down to Lubbock and go to college there. I didn't know that I had impressed him that much till some of his friend said that he was afraid to come back to visit. I told them to tell him to come on back, just stay away from my daughter.

Hi:
In reference to "Gina" and her Father. I wonder if "Father" was respectful to others' Daughters, Sisters, Wives, or Females in general that he came in contact with and did he consider any female other than his "Gina" up for grabs?
