First few Days

Now that I am carrying I have noticed some things

1. Holster options are important
I am currently using an OWB high ride by Old faithfull. I am left handed. When I get in my car I must careful when getting in and out to keep weapon concealed
I have a right hand draw IWB that fits perfectly in side door slot. I transfer gun from OWB to that holster while driving. I am glad I accidently ordered that holster when I did
2. I have always tried to be aware of my surrounding (I try to face door while dining) distance myself when possible when passing others, look for out of place things etc. etc.)
However, it is like awareness 10fold now which I find comforting.
3. I really do not like them "no gun" signs

4. Weapon selection is of utmost importance. I carry an sd9ve and love it at the moment, but I am somewhat limited on what I can ware (loose shirt is a must) no doubt a small
framed weapon may fit the bill better in the hot months but I am still comfortable with my choice even though there are limitations.
5. I am on my kids a little more often about how they act while I carry. ( I don't want them to start something with someone and me get caught in the middle) No mouth off policy is in effect lol.

All that being said I must say these last 3 days have been good. I go about my daily routine as normal with the only difference being that I am calmer and more relaxed with a weapon on my hip. I have no desire to pull weapon and hope I never have the need either.

I have to agree with you on the "No Gun" signs in Ohio. The times I've been in your state carrying, they seem to pop up everyplace.

You have open carry in Ohio. You worry too much about accidentally showing your pistol getting in and out of your car.

Why do you transfer your gun to another holster when in the car? Did you dine whilst facing the door before you began CCW? If not, why now?

And I am frankly amazed that you consider actions of your children of consequence. Seriously.

I transfer when driving my small car for longer distances. i carry on left side so it is almost impossible to un holster since door gets in way.

Yes i have always tried to face the door when possible while dining

My kids are great kids but they havr at times gotten smart with people to a point where i had to get involved (teenagers..argh)

All four of my kids were raised under a "no mouth off" policy from day one whether I was carrying a gun or not. They were taught and expected to use common courtesy and polite manners. All of which are sorely lacking in today's culture.

I completely agree on the SD9VE, (New member btw). I live in Athens Ohio and it hasn't left my side in the past two months that I've had it. Nightstand, Relaxing on couch, at work, doesn't matter. I know that not every gun is the same, but i have yet to have one single thing that happened nor that i didn't liked with this 9mm. Not one jam, and more accurate then most can expect from a VE edition. Now all we need is the government to stop staging gun violence and maybe we can get the ammo rounds cheaper again (and in stock) lol.
